The Giants got Odell Beckham Jr. back. Kind of.

The star wide receiver was active for Monday's 24-10 loss to the Lions, returning to action four weeks after he sprained his ankle in a preseason loss to the Browns. Beckham didn't come back to much work though.

Beckham didn't start and had four catches (on five targets) for 36 yards, playing just 61 percent of the Giants' offensive snaps (34/56) on what the wideout called a "pitch count."

The good news is Beckham got through the game OK. It was a tough decision for fantasy owners to start or sit Beckham once he was activated. Now the team faces questions about why did they even bother to dress him. However, even more good news for owners is he looks like he'll be good to go in a nice matchup in Week 3 against the Eagles.

When I asked Odell Beckham Jr is he playing just now he told me, "what you think? Yeah."

Beckham has apparently looked pretty good in warmups and seems good to go for fantasy lineups. No word about a possible snap count or restrictions.

Beckham has been limited in practice all week, and playing on Monday puts fantasy owners in a bind. Make sure to move Beckham to your FLEX spot in lineups to give you added options if he does not play again. Some possible emergency options that could be available in leagues include Shane Vereen, Kenny Golladay, Eric Ebron and Evan Engram. Roster one of these names, if available, if you own Beckham.

The Giants offense produced three points on Sunday night without wide receiver Odell Beckham in the lineup, so it’s fair to say that their chances of a better showing against the Lions next Monday night will have something to do with whether they get him back from an ankle injury.

Coach Ben McAdoo didn’t offer much of an update about that possibility when he spoke to the media on Monday. McAdoo called Beckham’s status “day-to-day” and it will be Thursday before the team has to issue a practice report that sheds more insight about any progress he’s made in his recovery.

Unfortunately this is another prime time game and OBJ could be another game-time call. Owners should try to figure out a backup plan and have someone else to slide in should Beckham again be inactive. Sunday night's NBC broadcast showed Beckham warming up, but also wincing a bit while running on the ankle, so he'll continue to get treatment in hopes of playing Week 2.

We had a report earlier today that didn't give much of a chance of Beckham being active tonight. As we stated, Shepard should move in and play as the team's WR2 and at least provide a nice fill-in option for Beckham owners.

Odell Beckham will fly with the Giants to Dallas today. After that, expect him to be a game-time decision.

It's a good sign that Beckham is at least travelling with the team. So, there's a chance he'll play. However, with the game being Sunday night, fantasy owners need to be ready with a back-up plan if Beckham doesn't play, among players on the Giants, Cowboys, Vikings and Saints. Put Beckham in your flex to also give you options at RB and TE. Some possible last-minute options could be: Cole Beasley, Shane Vereen (PPR), Coby Fleener or Evan Engram.
