According to Ian Rapoport on Twitter, Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks will be active for Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brandin Cooks caused some concern by skipping Tuesday’s practice, but his being listed as a limited participant on Wednesday’s estimated practice report gave some reason for optimism. It is now confirmed that Cooks will suit up, though we would not expect him to play his normal complement of snaps. Quad issues and tricky and can linger, so expect Cooks to be removed from the field on plays the Texans are looking to run.

According to Aaron Reiss on Twitter, Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks may be limited against the Kansas City Chiefs during Thursday Night Football.

Brandin Cooks has been limited with the quad injury throughout camp but was able to get in limited practice sessions on both Monday and Wednesday. The speculation that he may be limited is noteworthy, as a reduction in snaps would cap his fantasy upside. If he does suit up tonight, we may see him rotated with Kenny Stills. We will have another update closer to game time.

This is a slight improvement over yesterday when Cooks didn't practice at all. He looks like a game time decision for Thursday night. In the event Cooks sits out, Will Fuller would project for a heavy workload working in front of Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills.

The Texans traded for Brandin Cooks after trading DeAndre Hopkins. While Hopkins received a mega contract extension from the Cardinals on Tuesday, the Texans learned they made need a backup plan for Cooks for their season opener.

Two days before their game against the Chiefs, the Texans report Cooks did not practice. It raises a question about Cooks’ availability for Thursday.

The Texans will have Will Fuller, Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills as their top three receivers if Cooks can’t go. Cooks was limited on Monday with the quad injury.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien said it’s clear Watson has “a really good grasp of our offense” and is “playing at a really high level.”

Watson said despite the changes -- and lack of practice time this offseason with new Texans receivers Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb -- he believes his “confidence is continuing to grow."

Obviously losing DeAndre Hopkins was a big deal, but the story said Watson is adjusting nicely. Watson is also entering his fourth year in the offense so there a greater level of comfort. Watson is ranked fourth on our QB list.

Kenny Stills was on the NFI list and it’s been set for him to return soon and now it’s officially happened.

This is a nice spot for Brandin Cooks to land as he'll slide in as the Texans top wideout. He's a downgrade from DeAndre Hopkins talent-wise, but should still be a WR2 for fantasy purposes.
