Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) will again be limited at practice today, but he has not been cleared for contact yet, according to Brian Daboll.

Not a good sign for his availability for Sunday.

All signs point towards another Tyrod Taylor start in Week 7. It took Taylor 36 passing attempts (200 yards) and five rush attempts (24 yards) to claw his way to 10.4 fantasy points last week. Even in a decent matchup with the Commanders coming up, we shouldn't expect an explosive fantasy performance.

The Giants worked out Matt Barkley. This is possibly a big development related to Daniel Jones’ timeline.

Duggan thinks if the Giants sign a vet QB, that would seemingly signal they’re expecting Jones to miss extended time. Jones is dealing with a neck injury and started trending in the wrong direction late last week, with the team saying he was more sore. We'll likely know more Wednesday when the injury report comes out, or if the Giants sign another QB before that.

Regardless of what you thought about the Giants' offense heading into this season, it would have been hard to predict that it would be this bad. Tyrod Taylor should be in line to start against the Bills, and should be left on fantasy benches.

It appears to be heading in the wrong direction for Daniel Jones to play this week. This is not a situation where he is going to miss a long time.

Tyrod is a perfectly capable backup, but this offense looks destined for failure regardless of the QB, as they currently rank 31st in points scored and 32nd in yardage gained. The team also happens to rank in the bottom-six of the league in those defensive categories as well.

Rapoport said Jones' status for Week 6 is "iffy" or "up in the air." Rapoport said Jones compared his neck injury to one he suffered last season, which was considered a "stinger" that eventually calmed down after a couple of weeks. However, this time Jones' neck injury is considered less serious. Jones is scheduled for a MRI Monday.

“I mean, I feel like Daniel Jones [has] kind of been counted out the majority of his life,” Saquon Barkley told The Post this week. “He was a walk-on quarterback for Duke, and to get drafted to the New York Giants, everyone thinks he’s not going to be worth a thing, at all. I think he’s silenced all those critics.

“I don’t want to speak for DJ but he’s gonna come in every single day with the same mindset, be the leader that we need. You can see his swagger has grown a little bit more after being involved in the system, understanding the system even better.”

Barkley added everyone will see when the team is playing games. But he did mention a lack of consistency over the past several years going from Pat Shurmur to Joe Judge to Brian Daboll. Barkley added: “You get to be under a system for another year, have all the coaches basically come back, that just helps your confidence grow. When your confidence grows you get that swagger.” Meanwhile, you'll find Jones ranked 10th among our QBs this season. John Paulsen points out Jones was a top-10 fantasy quarterback in 2022 in his first season with Daboll, and that was with an injury-riddled (and suspect) receiving corps. Thus far, the Giants have added an impact tight end (Darren Waller) and re-signed both Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton.

The Giants are signing WR Cole Beasley. He reunites with Brian Daboll, his former offensive coordinator with the #Bills, and adds another veteran target for Daniel Jones.

Year 12 in the NFL for Beasley back in the NFC East.

It isn't likely that Beasley carries any fantasy value himself but if he makes the team, he could eat into some snaps for the plethora of other slot receivers the team has. At the least, this at least brings a little more veteran presence for Daniel Jones.

So Giants QB Daniel Jones gets his deal, 4 years and $160M with $35M more available in incentives.

Saquon Barkley gets the tag.

Jones was a top-10 fantasy quarterback last year in his first season with HC Brian Daboll. Given his ability to run the ball, he has a good chance to post low-end QB1 numbers again since the Giants are likely to improve his receiving corps. As for Barkley, we'll see how he responds to being tagged. Assuming he's willing to play in 2023 for top-5 money, he'll continue to be drafted near the 1st/2nd turn.
