Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew is apparently entering a new phase of his career in which he doesn’t get virtually all the carries.
He had 14 carries Sunday and six receptions, and Jordan Todman had 11 carries.
That pattern will apparently continue because offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said, “I think that would be a really good setup for us.”
Although he said it was difficult, Jones-Drew said, “In the fourth quarter, I was fresher than I’ve ever been. It worked out well, and we got the victory and will continue on that path.”
MJD had 144 total yards on 20 touches, but things won't always be as easy as they were against the Texans. It's not good for Jones-Drew's fantasy prospects that Todman is cutting into his touches, though if he continues to see a big role in the passing game, it will help to offset the reduction in carries.
