2021 3M Open: Round 3 Matchups
Similar to some of the other "birdie-fests" seen across the PGA Tour over the past month, the second round of the 3M Open concluded on Friday evening with 18 players within three shots of the lead. Also typical from these events such as the John Deere and Rocket Mortgage Classics, the top-ranked players are hardly making a noise. Dustin Johnson missed the cut. Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson are sitting in 56th place at only 2-under par, while Tony Finau finished at 3-under. Only ninth-ranked player in the world, Louis Oosthuizen, who concluded his round at 6-under par for the tournament, is anywhere near striking distance. Your 36-hole leaders are Ryan Armour and Adam Hadwin, each shooting 6-under 65s for the day. Sitting behind those two in a tie for third place at 9-under are Bo Hoag, Chez Reavie, Jhonattan Vegas and Roger Sloan. Except for Vegas, who is safely in, each of those players is in a battle to make the FedExCup top 125 to ensure their chance for the Tour playoffs. With a cold front and storms hitting the Blaine, Minnesota area tonight, tee times have been pushed back tomorrow to later in the morning. The wind will be from the northwest, a completely different direction than from the first two rounds. Weather aside, it appears to be anyone's tournament for the taking and sets up another intriguing weekend on the PGA Tour.
