The Dallas Cowboys received a hint of good news regarding the status of Tony Romo's ribs when a CT scan on Monday revealed only one fracture, according to sources.
He suffered the injury when 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks hit him on a 25-yard completion to tight end Jason Witten on the game's third play. Romo managed to get through the first half but missed all but 37 seconds of the third quarter as the medical staff waited for pain-killing medicine to take effect.
Romo will receive extra treatment throughout the week but said after the game he would be able to play next Monday against the Washington Redskins since he was able to finish the game Sunday. He could wear extra protection for his ribs.
Romo played well after coming back into the game, but it could be a different story as the week goes on, so we'll have to keep aware of his progress. Romo will be without WR Miles Austin but could have Dez Bryant back. Romo could lose a few spots in the rankings, but overall it's a nice week 3 matchup against the Skins as long as he's able to play.
