According to a Yahoo! report, Bengals RB Cedric Benson was notified of a three-game suspension for player-conduct violations (during the lockout). Benson's appeal of the three-game suspension will be heard next Tuesday.
Bernard Scott is the obvious play here, but Brian Leonard will also get extra work as the team takes a committee approach to replacing its workhorse back. Benson should play this week against a tough 49ers rush defense and then would potentially miss tantalizing matchups against the Bills (W4) and Colts (W6) along with a mediocre matchup with the Jaguars (W5). It's not clear whether or not the NFL is justified in suspending players for actions that took place during a lockout, but it appears that the league is going to try.
