Brandon Jacobs is headed back to the New York Giants.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday the Giants are signing the veteran running back, according to a source involved in the process. FOX Sports 1's Mike Garafolo had the first report.
HC Tom Coughlin has indicated Wilson will remain in the mix, but the team was looking for another option beyond Da'Rel Scott.
At 31 years old, it's unclear how much Jacobs has left, and it's hard to see him getting regular carries at this stage. At best, he's probably a placeholder until Andre Brown can return from short-term injured reserve.
Jacobs is 31 and it would hard to imagine him getting a lot of work. He'll likely be the third RB option behind Wilson and Scott, at least until Andre Brown returns.
