10 for 10 with Ian: Week 14 Top Plays on FantasyAces - Russell Wilson Edition
Russell Wilson is the most polarizing quarterback to enter the NFL since Tim Tebow. Like Tebow, the questions surrounding Wilson are wide ranging and not strictly tied to just football. However, there are two specific questions about Wilson that I am especially confident about the answers to.
Are we sure Wilson is a good quarterback? Yes, yes we are. I was a non-believer at first, and it’s easy to see why. With Beast-Mode as his running back and the Legion of Boom as his defense, Wilson had a ton of help courtesy of the best running game and defense in the league. This is what helped him win 15 of 22 career games with a QBR under 50 through his first three seasons. But at the end of the day Wilson is essentially one yard away from being a two-time Super Bowl champ, and despite his underwhelming passing numbers at times, Wilson has been borderline revolutionary running the football. This ability to run the ball, along with now four straight seasons of 20+ touchdown passes and 10 or less interceptions, gives Wilson the right to have his name discussed among the best quarterbacks in the league.
Are we sure Wilson is a pretty weird guy? Yes, we most definitely are. The examples are endless. There was that time Wilson claimed his healing from a concussion was because of magic water, that time Wilson decided he wasn’t going to have sex with his girlfriend/dime piece Ciara, and last but not least, that time Wilson claimed that his ill-timed, Super Bowl ending interception was due to a deliberate lack of divine intervention.
Over anything that Russell Wilson does on or off the field, the insane hot takes that attempt to force him into being the best quarterback in the league are what really piss me off. I wouldn’t care that Wilson threw four interceptions in the NFC championship last season, but c’mon: a dropped onside kick led to a Seahawks victory, which then inexplicably created stories asking if Wilson is suddenly emerging as the greatest “clutch” QB ever .
Recently, these Wilson hot takes have all been positive, and for good reason. The guy is on fire. Averaging 293 passing yards and four total touchdowns in his last three games, Wilson’s underwhelming start to the season appears to be behind him. Just to make sure, let’s see how he does this week against the Ravens and their 27th ranked defense in QB aFPA.

QB Russell Wilson $6,700 @ Baltimore
A quick summary of the above: Wilson is great -- not the best, but great -- at playing quarterback. He’s got a hot girlfriend that he doesn't sleep with, a great matchup against Baltimore, and people like talking about everything he does.
QB Tyrod Taylor $6,100 @ Philadelphia
Remember when there was a quarterback competition in Buffalo? It was between Tyrod Taylor (had never thrown a NFL touchdown before this season), EJ Manuel (a headliner of what ESPN dubbed the worst QB draft in recent memory) and Matt “I’ve played on four teams in four years” Cassel. Today? Taylor has established himself as an above-average starter! His matchup this week comes against an Eagles defense that hasn’t allowed less than 28 points in almost a month. We expect that streak to continue this Sunday.
