GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Kansas City

A.J. Dillon truthers: the time is now. With the Green Bay Packers having to turn to backup/quarterback of the future Jordan Love in Week 9, the ground game will become paramount to their success at Kansas City. Dillon's usage has been up and down in 2021, but he does have three weeks with double-digit carries, averaging 5.2 yards per carry in those contests.

Week 9 figures to be one of those games where Aaron Jones might touch the ball 20 times and still leave 10-15 touches for Dillon. That's what our models project too, affording the second-year power runner 13 touches on his way to a low-end RB3 projection this week against Kansas City's middle-of-the-road defense by schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to running backs.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Arizona Cardinals

Odd game script resulted in A.J. Dillon seeing very little usage in Week 7, but the Green Bay Packers' massive power back will still be a top-50 fantasy rusher in Week 8. This comes in spite of a matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, who are dead-last in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to running backs. Increased receiving work is possible due to the absences of key wide receivers for this contest, which should help to raise Dillon's fantasy floor.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Washington Football Team

Head coach Matt LaFleur seems to be keeping his word on A.J. Dillon's workload in at least one way: the team is getting him more touches. Last week's grind against the tough Chicago Bears defense saw the Green Bay Packers' RB2 pick up 11 carries for 59 yards, though he got no work in the passing game.

In Week 7, the Packers figure to be in complete control from "go" to "whoa", which could lead to additional work for Dillon if the team wants to keep lead back Aaron Jones fresh. The Washington Football Team allows the eighth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to running backs, so Dillon's efficiency should also sustain here. Our models project Dillon as the 27th-best running back for fantasy purposes in Week 7.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Bears
The Chicago Bears allow the fourth-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the running back position, which dampens the outlook for the Green Bay Packers' team RB2 – A.J. Dillon – substantially. Dillon has begun to increase his receiving volume in recent weeks, and will find himself carrying the ball to preserve lead back Aaron Jones in blowouts, but it's hard to expect much out of him here. Our models project Dillon as fantasy's RB35 in a bye-week riddled Week 6.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cincinnati Bengals

Green Bay Packers' backup running back A.J. Dillon typically only gets extra work when his team is blowing another out of the water and they want to protect lead runner Aaron Jones' health. That explains Dillon's Week 4 usage, where he got 15 carries. He's still a highly efficient rusher, but inconsistent workloads and little-to-no receiving work make him a risky play in all but the deepest leagues. Our models project Dillon as Week 5's RB46 in what should be a closely contested matchup – and therefore a reduced workload for Dillon – against the Cincinnati Bengals.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Steelers
Like his backfield leader Aaron Jones (questionable, ankle), A.J. Dillon enters the pre-Week 4 practices with an injury. The second-year rusher suffered a back injury in Week 3 that has limited him so far, but it doesn't seem that he will need to miss time. That said, Dillon is averaging just over six touches and about 30 scrimmage yards per game and will be going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. The Black-and-Yellow are limiting opposing fantasy running backs to the second-fewest schedule-adjusted points to date, which makes Dillon a dicey option. He's outside our top-50 at the position this week.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at 49ers
A.J. Dillon enters Week 3 with back-to-back 3.1 half-PPR point performances under his belt to date, totaling just nine carries for 37 yards and two catches for 15 yards. Dillon has been efficient enough with his minimal workload, but he won't be stealing work from Green Bay Packers lead rusher Aaron Jones without some sort of injury.

With the ninth-toughest schedule-adjusted defense for fantasy backfields on tap in the San Francisco 49ers, Dillon is a fringe top-50 fantasy back. He's worth keeping on your roster, but there are betting options for a starting lineup spot in this game.
