Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger says, “My arm feels really good. I threw a lot of balls yesterday.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Perhaps even better news is the tweet added Big Ben felt just as good the next day. Roethlisberger has been throwing more this offseason than usual. He will have a “pitch count” during this unusual camp the tweet also said.

Ben Roethlisberger, who underwent season-ending surgery on his right elbow two weeks into the season, recently discussed his injury with Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He also offered a hopeful timetable for his return.

"OTAs. Minicamp. Somewhere in there," said Roethlisberger, who ended any possible speculation about his future by issuing a statement stating his plans to fulfill the remainder of his contract shortly after sustaining the season-ending injury. "Just taking it nice and slow, doctors' orders. It's all about what they say."

Fantasy Impact: 

The story said his focus is rehabbing for next season, but Big Ben is also helping his current replacement, Mason Rudolph, grow as much as possible. Rudolph is now 4-2 as a starter this season.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be out for the season, the team announced Monday.

Fantasy Impact: 

The team said Ben had an MRI Sunday evening and it was determined elbow surgery would be required. It wasn't looking good since it was a non-contact injury and Roethlisberger never returned to the game. Rudolph takes over for the rest of the season and the team promoted Hodges from the practice squad.

The team liked Rudolph enough to trade Joshua Dobbs to the Jaguars a few weeks ago, so now the 0-2 Steelers will get a good look at Rudolph for the remainder of the year. The team will have to bring in another arm at some point to back up Rudolph. Rudolph played pretty well trying to rally the Steelers in Week 2, throwing for a 112 yards and two TDs with an INT. With James Conner possibly also missing team, the Steeler offense has taken some hits.

A decision is expected today on whether Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger will need elbow surgery, per league sources.

Fantasy Impact: 

Schefter went on to say Roethlisberger wants to avoid surgery at all costs, but ultimately doctors will decide whether that’s possible. If Ben misses time, Rudolph will be under center for the Steelers. He played pretty well trying to rally the Steelers from behind against the Seahawks Sunday, and would get the 49ers on the road in Week 3.
