Adam Schefter reports that the Packers have signed RB Cedric Benson to a one-year contract. With James Starks week-to-week with a turf toe injury and Alex Green still removing from ACL surgery, Benson will likely be in the mix for carries right away.

Fantasy Impact: 

With James Starks still in the mix, no Packers RB appears to be draftable, although it seems likely Benson could be in line for the most carries. The upside is capped by an RBBC in a pass-first offense in which John Kuhn and Aaron Rodgers get most of rushing TDs.

According to the Packers official Twitter page, RB James Starks is week-to-week with turf toe.

"McCarthy: Starks - turf toe, is week to week. RB situation not healthy, and Alex Green on rep count."

The Packers are expected to sign free agent RB Cedric Benson according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

RB Cedric Benson is in Green Bay, expected to sign with Packers, per sources.

Fantasy Impact: 

Apparently the Packers were not content with Starks's play in camp and against the Chargers last night. If Benson signs with the Packers, James Starks will become nearly undraftable.

As far as who will back up the talented Eagles RB LeSean McCoy at running back, rookie seventh-round pick Bryce Brown seems to be ahead of Dion Lewis and others early in camp. There's always a chance a veteran like Cedric Benson or Ryan Grant might make the Eagles' radar screen at some point, but for now it's Brown.
