DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New York Giants

With Trevor Siemian only throwing for 179 yards in the win over the Raiders two weeks ago, Demaryius Thomas finished with just an 11-yard catch, despite being targeted 5 times. Thomas came into the game with 17 grabs in the first three contests, so consider the solo reception performance an anomaly. The Giants are giving up 225 passing yards per game, so go ahead and reinsert No. 88 into your starting lineup.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Oakland Raiders

Against a solid Buffalo defense last week, Demaryius Thomas had his best game of the season, registering 6 grabs for 98 yards. While Emmanuel Sanders led the Broncos with 15 targets, Thomas received 9 looks from Trevor Siemian, who put the ball up 40 times in the loss. After the struggle the Oakland secondary had last Sunday night against the Redskins, Thomas should definitely be in for a big game. There’s no question he should remain in your starting lineup.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Buffalo Bills

In the win over Dallas last Sunday, Trevor Siemian threw 4 touchdown tosses (6 total on the season), but so far Demaryius Thomas has been held out of the end zone in 2017. Of Siemian's 6 touchdowns, 2 have gone to Emmanuel Sanders, 2 to Bennie Fowler, 1 to TE Virgil Green, and the other to RB C.J. Anderson. Thomas did have a decent fantasy game against the Cowboys, finishing with 6 grabs for 71 yards, and he leads the team with 138 receiving yards through two games. The Bills have allowed only 21 total points and held opponents to less than 235 yards per game, but No. 88 should remain in your fantasy lineup.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Last Monday night versus the Chargers, Demaryius Thomas led the Broncos with 8 targets, 5 receptions, and 67 yards. After an easy drop, he redeemed himself later on the drive with a nice 29-yard grab that set up a Denver score. Trevor Siemian looked good for most of the night and he was in rhythm with his No. 1 WR. The Cowboys defense had a good Week 1 showing, but there’s no way your lineup should not include Thomas.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Even with Gary Kubiak’s more conservative approach last season, Demaryius Thomas still collected 90 grabs for over 1,000 yards and 5 TDs. While all those numbers were down from the previous four seasons, Mike McCoy is back as the Broncos offensive coordinator and will look to throw the ball more often. In the two contests against the Chargers in 2016, Thomas caught five passes in each but was held out of the end zone. He is too big of a weapon to leave on your bench, so be sure DT is part of your Week 1 starting lineup.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
In the run-first approach of Gary Kubiak's offense, Demaryius Thomas still posted 90 receptions last year –- his lowest total since the Tim Tebow era. For the fifth straight season, No. 88 eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark. During those past five seasons, he has not missed a game and has averaged 98 receptions for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns. Now that Mike McCoy is back as the offensive coordinator in Denver, expect the offense to let whoever is the QB air it out a bit more.

Fantasy Downside

Despite seeing 321 targets the past two seasons, Thomas has totaled only 11 touchdowns. His 12.0 yards per reception last season was a career-low. He’s been criticized for dropped passes during his career and was among the league leaders with seven of them in 2016.

2017 Bottom Line

Thomas is still an elite WR and should receive more action this season, regardless who Denver plays at QB. Expect the Broncos offense to be more exciting this season, which will help all of the pass-catchers. Thomas is ranked as our No. 16 WR and will likely be drafted by the third round. He should again easily post another 1,000-yard season.

DEN WR Demaryius Thomas - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Oakland
Last Sunday night in Kansas City, Demaryius Thomas was held to just three grabs for 20 yards on eight targets. With virtually no rushing attack, Trevor Siemian was forced to throw the ball 43 times, but for only 183 yards. The Raiders limited D.T. to five receptions for 56 yards in Week 9.
