Scouting report

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Jake Ferguson enjoyed an eight-target game against the Seahawks last week and rewarded his fantasy managers with six grabs for 77 yards and a touchdown. He posted 16.7 Half-PPR points and finished as the TE4, almost doubling his season average of 8.6 points per game.

After a rough start to the season, the Eagles' defense has stiffened somewhat towards tight ends. The Birds rank 12th in aFPA to tight ends, but Ferguson's safe floor and the potential shootout between these two teams make it safe to project him as a mid-tier TE1 in Week 14.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Seattle Seahawks

It was another quiet week for Jake Ferguson despite the Cowboys' evisceration of the Commanders on Thanksgiving. Ferguson earned just three targets, catching one for 35 yards. This grab saw Ferguson amass just 4.0 Half-PPR points, a tally exceeded by 21 other tight ends last week.

The Seahawks have not exactly been kind to tight ends this season. They rank eighth in aFPA to the position in 2023. Still, with a notable number of byes in Week 13, Ferguson should be considered a top 12 option this week.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Washington Commanders

It was a frustrating week for Jake Ferguson and his fantasy managers in Week 11. He saw just five targets. three of which he caught for 32 yards, but it was fellow tight end Luke Schoonmaker who caught one of Dak Prescott's two touchdown passes on the day. Ferguson finished as the TE21, a long way behind his season average of TE9.

The Commanders offer a tempting opponent to everyone in the Cowboys passing attack, although they are slightly stiffer opposition to tight ends than wide receivers. They rank 18th in aFPA to tight ends, whereas they are dead last to wide receivers. Ferguson should be able to put up top 12 numbers, but the ceiling is not particularly attractive this week.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina Panthers

Jake Ferguson has enjoyed the Cowboys embracing the forward pass of late and continued to reward his fantasy managers in Week 10. Ferguson amassed 10.6 Half-PPR points on his way to a TE5 finish last week and is the TE8 in average points per game this season.

Ferguson should remain a top-12 option at the TE position against the Panthers, if only due to his volume opportunities. The Panthers actually rank third in aFPA to tight ends this season, but no player has seen more targets inside the opposition's 10-yard lines in 2023 than Ferguson. He's always a threat to find the end zone, and that's what we want from our fantasy tight ends.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New York Giants

Jake Ferguson has emerged as a steady second chair in the Cowboys passing game behind CeeDee Lamb. Lamb is the only Cowboy with more targets, receptions, and receiving yards than Ferguson this season, He's the TE10 in Half-PPR points per game, but the TE4 over the last two weeks.

The Giants rank 10th in aFPA to tight ends in 2023. But this team is circling the drain and doesn't seem like they'll be able to stop the Cowboys' main weapons from expressing themselves this week. Treat Ferguson as a solid TE1 option this week.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles

After a quiet couple of weeks, Jake Ferguson had one of his most productive games of the season in Week 8 against the Rams. Ferguson caught all four of his targets – he has caught every ball sent his way in each of the last four games – for 47 yards and his first touchdown grab since Week 2. Ferguson managed 12.7 Half-PPR points, his best output of the year, but is still only averaging 6.89 points per game.

A possible shootout with the Eagles should be good news for all Cowboys pass catchers, given the Eagles friendly nature to fantasy receivers. The Birds rank 22nd in aFPA to tight ends this season, and Ferguson should be able to post TE1 numbers in Week 9.

DAL TE Jake Ferguson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Jake Ferguson breakout season is not really going to plan so far. He ranks 16th in targets per game (4.83) and receptions per game (3.5), but he has just one touchdown and averages 31.67 receiving yards per game. Ferguson sits at TE16 in fantasy points per game.

Ferguson has a pretty good matchup on paper, with the Rams ranked 30th in aFPA to the tight end spot so far in 2023. Still, he's not likely to produce at the very highest level, but a high-end TE2 finish should be within his possibilities in Week 8.
