Packers beat writer Tom Silverstein on the WR situation: "What in the world did James Jones do to be so buried on the depth chart? I might be a hypocrite for asking since I'm the one who wrote on this blog that the Packers didn't need to re-sign Jones because Jordy Nelson was going to emerge as a starter after his big post-season. Nelson was very good, hauling in six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown and deserved to stay on the field. He had eight passes targeted at him. Jones, meanwhile, had just one pass targeted and caught it for a 1-yard gain. It's possible Jones' knee wasn't back to full strength after missing all of the previous week with a bruised knee. But given the way Randall Cobb played (2 catches for 35 yards and a touchdown), I see Jones on the trading block fairly soon."

One week into his pro career, Green Bay wide receiver Randall Cobb has dazzled. The speed, the hands, the athleticism. The Packers' second-round pick has been a pay-per-view attraction from Day 1.

On a loaded receiving corps, Cobb could become an X-and-O nightmare, a wild card on a Super Bowl offense.

This week, Cobb lined up at all three receiver spots in practice. He caught several passes - some across the middle, some downfield. On one 20-yard comeback route, quarterback Aaron Rodgers gunned a pass to him as soon he turned.

New wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett tapped the brakes while detailing Cobb's potential impact. Still, the talents Bennett sees in Green Bay's current crop of receivers, he noticed instantly in Cobb.

Fantasy Impact: 

As part of Green Bay's dynamic offense, Cobb is worth a look if he can find some playing time. Unfortunately, with Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and James Jones all being relatively young players, Cobb may not have a major role until veteran Donald Driver fades away.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones has agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Packers.

Fantasy Impact: 

Other teams had reportedly been pursuing Jones, but with Donald Driver's career on the back nine, it's smart for the Packers to bring Jones back. While speedy, Jones has been prone to drops in his career. He's certainly worthy of being on fantasy rosters, but with Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley projected to be the top receivers in Green Bay, Jones is best utilized as a spot starter.
