DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Green Bay
Jason Witten's numbers have been up and down so far this season. Last week, he caught three passes for 43 yards. And Witten is still looking for his first touchdown this season. He is averaging five catches and 43 yards per game.

The Packers are 27th in aFPA to tight ends, which means it's a good matchup for Witten. Still, the Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have not used Witten in the offense like you might expect. For Week 6, Witten rates a high-end TE2.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Bengals
Jason Witten was targeted nine times last week, which turned into seven receptions for 47 yards. We know QB Dak Prescott will use Witten as a safety blanket like Tony Romo has done for the past decade, but the alarming part about Witten's fantasy status is he has zero touchdowns in 2016. With Ezekiel Elliot in the fold, he has become the main option the 10-yard line.

Witten has a good matchup this week against Cincinnati, who is 28th in aFPA to tight ends. Look for the Cowboys to take advantage of that and look for more production from Witten in Week 5. Start Witten as a solid TE1 against the Bengals.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 4, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at San Francisco
After starting the season with a 14 target game, Jason Witten has been targeted only six times over the last two games. There are a lot of positives when it comes to having Witten on your roster. You know he will be out there for every snap and he is capable of having big games, even at 34 years old. He even has a good matchup this week against the Niners who are 28th in aFPA to tight ends.

However, the last two games make you wonder where he stands with QB Dak Prescott. Even with Dez Bryant out this week, there are some questions on Witten's outlook. He still could be a fantasy factor, but we have him as a high-end TE2 for Week 4.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 3, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Chicago
Although his targets fell from 14 to 4 last week, Jason Witten still had a decent day, with three receptions for 51 yards. The Cowboys have yet to throw a touchdown pass, but eventually QB Dak Prescott will be more comfortable and those numbers will rise.

Witten is still playing at a high level and against the Bears, who are 15th in aFPA to tight ends, so there will be potential to put up some good numbers. He has not had good outings against the Bears the last two times he played them in 2013 and 2014, with only three catches combined.

But we feel Prescott will continue to throw to Witten, so start him in all leagues as a low-end TE1 for Week 3.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 2, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Washington
With 14 targets last Sunday, veteran tight end Jason Witten became very relevant in fantasy with rookie QB Dak Prescott. Those targets turned into nine receptions for 66 yards, which eclipsed his 2015 season-high of eight.

Sometimes a rookie needs a security blanket, and that's what we saw against the Giants (and there is a good chance it could continue). We did see this earlier in Tony Romo's career.

This bodes well for Witten owners, and although it might not be this way for the entire season, get what you can out of it for now. Start Witten as a low-end TE1 against Washington.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 1, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. New York Giants
Is this guys still playing? Yes, he is and he is still effective. No, Jason Witten won't be a top-5 tight end this season, but he is still very much a part of the Cowboys offense. Therefore, he still has some fantasy value. We don't know how things will play out with Tony Romo's replacement Dak Prescott, so there is some caution on how much Witten will get thrown to, but overall it should still be enough to keep him on fantasy owner's radars.

For Week 1, the Cowboys face the Giants who were 31st in aFPA to tight ends in the 2015. Despite the good matchup, the rookie quarterback situation makes us a little nervous. We are going to keep Witten out of the top-10 for opening weekend and give him a high-end TE2 ranking.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 17, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Washington
Last week, Jason Witten had his worst performance of the season with one catch for 12 yards. It's been a battle for Witten to return to the top of the tight end rankings and with QB Kellen Moore now the starter, we don't expect a turnaround any time soon. Washington is also ranked 3rd in aFPA to tight ends so keep Witten on the bench for Week 17 as a solid TE2.
