Packers TE Andrew Quarless is a better blocker than Jermichael Finley but not as polished or skilled as a receiver. He has four catches for 28 yards this season.

However, he has the most experience even though he missed the entire 2012 season while recovering from his 2011 knee injury. Quarless might be better suited to play on the line of scrimmage rather than in the slot or split out wide -- where Finley combined to play nearly half of his snaps.

Fantasy Impact: 

While Quarless doesn't look like he'll have much fantasy potential, Brandon Bostick could. He's considered a prospect, but the story points out they may have him run some similar routes as Finley did. He would be a risky play but in deep leagues could be a guy to watch in the next couple of weeks.

Jermichael Finley has bruised spinal cord in neck

The future of Packers TE Jermichael Finley on the football field remains unknown. There were no timetables set Monday. Timetables took a backseat.

But a source did confirm that the Green Bay Packers tight end suffered a bruised spinal cord in his neck against the Cleveland Browns. He is expected to seek more medical opinions on the injury and take his time through the evaluation process.

Fantasy Impact: 

The story pointed out that some players have never played again after suffering this injury. Finley's injury doesn't seem to be career threatening. In terms of fantasy, the Pack will need their three healthy tight ends — Andrew Quarless, Brandon Bostick and Jake Stoneburner — to excel in specific roles and the offensive line to dominate. There will likely be more 100-yard rushing days with Eddie Lacy than 400-yard passing days from Aaron Rodgers - at least for now. There are reports that Finley could be placed on IR this week.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy on WR James Jones coming back Week 8: "Hope so. We'll see Wednesday. They thought two, possibly three weeks. James is not your normal guy. Genetically gifted."

Fantasy Impact: 

If James doesn't play this week, Jarrett Boykin would again play a significant role opposite Jorday Nelson after going over 100 yards with a TD in Week 7. That role could even increase with the loss of TE Jermichael Finley. Look for the Packers to continue to run the ball with Eddie Lacy, though.

Jermichael Finley injures neck

Packers tight end Jermichael Finley was taken off Lambeau Field on a gurney after he sustained a neck injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Packers said he had movement and feeling in all of his extremities.

Finley was injured at the end of a 10-yard reception, when he took a hit to the head from Browns safety Tashaun Gipson. Finley was down on the field for several minutes while medical personnel attended to him.

Fantasy Impact: 

The good news is he had feeling in his extremities, but the bad news is reports still had him in the ICU this morning. It's another big hit for the Packers who were counting on Finley to get some targets with Randall Cobb out for the foreseeable future. Finley finished with five catches for 72 yards and a TD. Andrew Quarless is up next on the Packer's TE depth chart.
