Scouting report

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Buffalo

After back-to-back monster games, Lamar Miller didn't do much of anything in Week 8. He had nine carries for 15 yards and five receptions for 19 yards. He did find the end zone for the third straight game, which salvaged his performance.

This week, Miller will face a Bills defense he had some success against earlier in the year. He had 38 yards on only seven carries (5.4 ypc). Buffalo isn't great when it comes to stopping the run, so Miller should find some production this week, assuming he gets touches. Miller will be a RB1 play this week.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New England
Who knew if you gave Lamar Miller the ball he’d actually be useful? Miller has 136 more yards in two games than he did in the four games with Joe Philbin as head coach. For those wondering, he’s piled up 354 total yards these last week while having just 218 yards in the first four games. Miller is a talented back, but he was seeing single-digit touches before the Dolphins made a coaching switch. Now he’s getting the ball, he’s been useful in fantasy.

His streak could cool off a bit this week against New England. The Patriots haven’t been allowing many points to backs, allowing an average of just below 70 yards to backs in the last four games with no touchdowns. Despite the poor matchup, Miller is still a low-end RB1, or high-end RB2.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Houston

Lamar Miller was finally freed last week under new head coach, Dan Campbell. The fourth-year rusher had over 100 total yards before the first half was over and finished with 118 on the game. He also had 21 touches, which is more than his last two games combined.

As long he keeps getting 20-plus touches like he did in Week 6, Miller will continue to be someone worth starting. The only thing holding him back early in the season was him simply not getting the ball. In Week 7, Miller has a favorable matchup against the Texans and should be viewed as a RB1.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Tennessee

Lamar Miller has 24 rushing attempts in his last three games combined. The elite rushers in this league have more than that per game. It's not like Miller is struggling, either. He had a bad outing against Jacksonville, but outside of that, he's averaging a healthy 4.3 yards per carry.

Miller has a new head coach after the bye week, so maybe he will want to give the Dolphins back the ball more often. Right now, the only thing holding Miller back is a lack of getting the ball in his hands. He gets a tough matchup this week and should be viewed as a low-end RB2.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Jets

Lamar Miller is struggling this season, as he's compiled just 105 rushing yards through three games. Even worse than his lack of yards is the fact he hasn't scored a touchdown so far this season.

He gets a tough matchup in Week 4 as he faces a Jets team that for the most part has been hard on running backs this season. The Eagles found success last week, but they've been the only team to do so far. Miller should be viewed as a strong flex play in Week 4, which is a downgrade from his preseason expectations. He was once viewed as a RB1, but he's simply not getting it done. Last week he had just seven rushing attempts.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Buffalo
Lamar Miller couldn't get anything going in Week 2 against the Jaguars. The Dolphins back ran 10 times for a measly 14 yards. His stats were padded in PPR formats with five receptions for 28 yards, but that's about the only silver lining here.

He will likely struggle again this week against a tough Buffalo defense. The Bills have allowed just 89 rushing yards to backs through two games, which is tied for third lowest in the league. Miller's early-season struggles combined with a tough matchup make him a low RB2 play in Week 3.

MIA RB Lamar Miller - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Jacksonville

Keeping in line with last year, the Dolphins decided not to overwork Lamar Miller by giving him just 14 total touches in Week 1. He finished with 75 all-purpose yards and no touchdowns.

No one else really threatened him for touches since all other backs combined had just one rushing attempt, but the Dolphins have never really let Miller get a heavy dose of carries in any game. This week, Miller has a favorable matchup against the Jaguars and should be viewed as a RB1.
