Source: C.J. Spiller to be used more at receiver

With Bills wideout Roscoe Parrish lost for the season, running back C.J. Spiller is expected to be used more and more as a receiver, per a source with knowledge of the situation.

It’s already a given that Spiller will serve as the team’s primary punt returner.

Though Spiller gained 63 yards on only four carries against the Raiders, Fred Jackson has become the team’s workhorse. He leads the NFL in rushing, with 229 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

This makes sense given the injuries to Roscoe Parrish and Marcus Easley, which came on the heels of the team's decision to part ways with Lee Evans. If true, Spiller's enhanced role would no doubt increase his value, especially in PPR leagues. Owners shouldn't go crazy trying to acquire him, but if he's available on the waiver wire or as a throw-in as part of a trade, there is some potential here.

Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh acknowledged today that wide receiver Lee Evans' play has been hampered by a nagging left ankle injury.

"There's no doubt about it," Harbaugh said. "It's affecting him, and we're going to have to take a hard look at that. If he can do the things we need him to do, he plays. If he can't, he won't play."

The Ravens also were judicious with the amount of time they played speedy wideout Lee Evans.

Dealing with a left ankle injury all week, Evans sat out several snaps to make sure he could give quality reps when the Ravens really needed him.

“I’m alright. I can’t say I’m all the way 100 percent, but I’m just giving it what I got,” said Evans, who caught two balls for 45 yards. “I was just trying to pace it. Late in the game, we were just trying to buy a couple plays so I could go back in there.
