Michael Thomas, Drake London expected to play in Week 1 NFC South tilt

Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) and Falcons WR Drake London (knee) are both expected to play in Sunday's game in Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact: 

Both were listed as questionable as both were limited all week. But both seem ready to roll in Sunday's early NFC South matchup. Thomas will be playing his first game since the Saints' playoff loss against the Buccaneers after the 2020 season. With Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry in the mix, the Saints can take it easy if they need to with Thomas, but you know Thomas is eager to get out on the field for a regular-season game. Thomas is currently our No. 30 WR this week.

As for London, he can be a tricky start. Between the injury and his first NFL start against a strong Saints defense, he's a bit of a risky start. Kyle Pitts will likely see a chunk of the targets. The Falcons can also mix in Olamide Zaccheaus and KhaDarel Hodge. London checks in at No. 48 on the half-PPR WR rankings.

Dennis Allen on whether Saints WR Michael Thomas will play: "We'll see. I don’t want to get into any specifics. We'll see where he's at, but certainly he's progressing."

Fantasy Impact: 

The tweet went on to say Allen also said Thomas "looked good. We're working him back in. ... But again, another positive step." Triplett went on to quote Thomas as saying he felt great and that he's going to try and top his performance from the 2019 season. Triplett added these are all positive signs for his availability for Week 1 but he was still limited Wednesday in practice.

I'm told Michael Thomas was present at the Saints' closed walk-through on Monday, another positive sign for his playing status on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: 

The tweet went on to say Wednesday's practice is the first installation of the game plan for the Falcons game, a critical one for Thomas and the Saints. We should perhaps know a little better later Wednesday.

Jameis Winston sprained his right foot during the Saints' practice on August 8th, causing him to miss the team's first two preseason games. Returning to practice is a significant step towards a full return.

Fantasy Impact: 

The article mentions that he had both of his feet "heavily taped" but could still move around normally. Winston isn't known for his wheels, so as long as his lower body is structurally sound, it shouldn't affect his game too much. If he is forced to miss time, we would presumably see veteran Andy Dalton man the quarterback position, but Winston will offer a higher upside for the Saints pass-catchers.
