The recent spate of injuries at the position has left the Steelers with David Paulson as their No. 1 tight end, and that is not about to change soon.

The Steelers are not planning to add a tight end other than players such as Michael Palmer and Nathan Overbay to their roster because they plan on getting Heath Miller, Matt Spaeth and David Johnson back at various points this season.

Miller remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list after having offseason surgery to repair three ligament tears in his knee, including the anterior cruciate ligament. The Steelers have not set a timetable for his return, but he appears to be on a schedule similar to the one Rashard Mendenhall was on in 2012 when he came back from offseason ACL surgery.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer differ on the importance of what a statistically sound run game can do for the Cardinals. Asked if having a top 15 ground attack is essential to building real success, Palmer said yes and Arians said no.

“Nah, just run the ball well when we want to run it,” Arians said. “We want to be balanced, but I don’t put numbers on it. … Statistics and running games, I don’t buy into it. Just run it when we need to run it and run it well.”

Palmer points out that a solid rushing game “makes everybody’s job easier” and that having one ranked within the top 15 should be the goal.

Fantasy Impact:

Rashard Mendenhall had an average ranking of 16.3 in PPR formats in three seasons in Pittsburgh under Arians. If he's healthy, he should be a solid value as a RB3 in the 6th round.

At running back, Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall is out with knee tendinitis. It’s not serious, coach Bruce Arians said, but Mendenhall needs a couple of days off. He is expected to practice Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

Mendenhall tore his ACL, so the fact that he's having knee pain isn't a great sign. But he's a cheap option in the 6th round as a RB3. Arians runs the ball more than people think. (The Colts were 11th in pass/run ratio in 2012.)
