IDP Defensive Playbook - Week 4
Welcome to your Week 4 IDP Defensive Playbook. Each week, I'll highlight some of the top defensive waiver wire targets, as well as matchups to exploit and avoid in each game. Week 3 is in the books, and there were both some fine performances and some stinkers thrown about. Luke Kuechly continues to be bothered by concussion symptoms, and Jordan Hicks broke out this week (hope you grabbed him last week). Before I look at Week 4, here's how my Week 3 waiver targets performed:
- Vic Beasley, DE, ATL: Two tackles/One sack
- Jacquies Smith, DE, TBB: Five tackles
- Stephon Tuitt, DE, PIT: Six tackles/One sack
- DeMeco Ryans, ILB, PHI: Three tackles
- Jordan Hicks, ILB, PHI: 10 tackles/One INT/One defended pass
- Derrick Morgan, OLB, TEN: One tackle/One defended pass
- Manti Te’o, ILB, SDC: Five tackles
- Malcolm Smith, ILB, OAK: Seven tackles/One sack/One defended pass
- Marcus Peters, CB, KCC: Three tackles
- Corey Graham, FS, BUF: 12 tackles
- Adam Jones, CB, CIN: Six tackles/One INT/One defended pass
Defensive Line
Brandon Williams, DT, BAL: Williams has looked great on the defensive line for the Ravens and has recorded double-digit fantasy points in two of three games. He should be a target in leagues requiring a defensive tackle and is recording an 11.7-percent tackle rate, which also included 11 solo tackles.
Clinton McDonald, DT, TBB: McDonald is another linemen who should be a target in DT-required leagues. He has the benefit of the playing alongside Gerald McCoy, so he sees a lot of single coverage against the offensive line. He has three straight games of four solo tackles and is producing an 11.9-percent tackle rate.
Kerry Wynn, DE, NYG: Wynn will be a decent streamer option in deeper leagues as Robert Ayers’s handcuff. Ayers was inactive Thursday night and Wynn got the start, appearing in 60 out of the 77 snaps. He recorded a few QB pressures and eight total tackles.
