Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 10 Targets
Sadly, the Browns acted like a tanking dynasty team last week and chose to plug in their rookie QB instead of the proven vet, so we streamers did not get to take advantage of Josh McCown. Cody Kessler managed 15 fantasy points in that game, and McCown would have been a near-guarantee to outperform Kessler.
Colin Kaepernick turned out to be a fantastic streamer yet again, despite doing little on the ground. As is often the case, we were reminded that it does not take high-level NFL talent to become a wonderful streaming QB. Never make the mistake of confusing the two; stick to targeting fantasy potential.
We are still streaming at a rate that would be a low-end QB1, which is quite acceptable when we’re only choosing QBs you can get for free. On the season, our optimal streaming QB is scoring 21.97 points, good enough for QB12 overall. Our streaming choices have scored 19.31 points on average through nine weeks.
As always, I focus on QB points per game and the Vegas implied team totals to determine good QB streamers, then I add in their matchup for the week. For opposing defenses, we utilize Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points allowed (aFPA).
Week 10 QB Streaming Targets
Joe Flacco (BAL) vs CLE
I don’t like streaming QBs who play on Thursdays, but Joe Flacco is far and away the favorite streamer in my system this week. He has a fantastic matchup against a Browns team that has all but packed for the offseason, giving up 22.0 aFPA to opposing QBs, and he’s a heavy home favorite. Flacco has not had an encouraging season, but this matchup should give him plenty of opportunity to succeed.
Flacco is available in 73.7% of ESPN public leagues, and he is my optimal QB streamer of the week.
