Sneaky Starts: Week 3
All but the luckiest fantasy owners at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough – a waiver wire or bench player capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.
Joe Flacco, LeGarrette Blount, Will Fuller, Stefon Diggs, Mike Wallace, Travis Benjamin, Martellus Bennett, Kyle Rudolph and Jacob Tamme were a few of the standout Sneaky Starts in Week 2. Let’s take a look at Week 3:
Quarterbacks
Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins (vs. CLE)
This is a matchup play since the Browns have yielded an average of 290 passing yards and 2.0 TD through two weeks. Tannehill should be able to produce against Cleveland.
Marcus Mariota, Titans (vs. OAK)
Mariota has thrown two touchdowns in each of his first two games and has a favorable matchup against an Oakland defense that just yielded 423 yards and four touchdowns to Drew Brees and 396 yards and three touchdowns to Matt Ryan.
Joe Flacco, Ravens (@ JAX)
The Jaguars just got toasted for four touchdowns by Philip Rivers in Week 2. Aaron Rodgers accounted for three total touchdowns (two passing, one rush) in Week 1. Flacco has had a solid start to the season, averaging 280 passing yards and 1.5 TD per game.
Dak Prescott, Cowboys (vs. CHI)
Prescott hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass through two games, though he has averaged 260 yards through the air and ran for a TD in Week 2. The Bears gave up two touchdowns to Brock Osweiler and got picked apart by Carson Wentz on Monday night, so Prescott should be able to produce in Week 3.
Carson Wentz, Eagles (vs. PIT)
The Steelers have only given up one passing touchdown through two weeks, but they’ve yielded an average of 348 passing yards to Andy Dalton and Kirk Cousins. Wentz has looked solid in his first two games and should be able post some fantasy points against the Steelers.
