Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 9 Targets
This is our second – and final – week with six teams on bye. We knew last week would be tough with so many streamers on bye, and it wasn’t great. Josh McCown served us well as an optimal streamer, but our other two options were on the mediocre-to-bad portion of the spectrum. This week, six more teams get the day off, but only a couple of them have true streamers at QB. Let’s hope we can get some QB love this week and have several TDs for our streamers.
On the season, our optimal streaming QB is scoring 22.48 points, good enough for QB10 overall. Our streaming choices have scored 19.41 points on average through eight weeks.
As always, I focus on QB points per game and the Vegas implied team totals to determine good QB streamers, then I add in their matchup for the week. For opposing defenses, we utilize Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points allowed (aFPA).
Week 9 QB Streaming Targets
Josh McCown (CLE) vs DAL
Josh McCown looked good in a plus matchup last week, and this week he gets back Corey Coleman and has another fine matchup. Assuming the Browns throw him back under center in Week 9, I am entirely content to start McCown yet again if I’m streaming. The Cowboys are giving up 16.9 aFPA to opposing QBs, and I am willing to trust McCown here, despite a low Vegas implied team total for the Browns. He’ll be throwing often in this one.
McCown is available in 97.7% of ESPN public leagues, and he is my optimal QB streamer of the week.
