2021 Travelers Championship: Round 2 Matchups
Many of the Tour's stars showed up to play at the Travelers Championship, which began today in Cromwell, CT. However, it's an assortment of second-tier players and journeymen who are lighting up the front page of the leaderboard. The top names make up a true "Who's Who" list of the golfing world, as in "Who is Kramer Hickok? Is that a real golfer?" No disrespect to the likes of Hickok and Satoshi Kodaira, Brice Garnett and Beau Hossler, but most casual golf fans are unfamiliar with these names. As for Kodaira, he had the round of the day, shooting 8-under through the first 12 holes, before struggling down the stretch, and finishing at 7-under par. He sits tied for the lead with the aforementioned Hickok. As for the game's bigger stars, Sam Burns and Bubba Watson both finished at 4-under par, while the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and others finished further down the board. They will need a quality second-round score to make the estimated cut line of 2-under par. If you follow my Twitter account, I posted earlier in the week how some players tend to struggle the week after a major. The hangover from the U.S. Open clearly seems to be affecting some of the game's bigger stars.
