2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open Round 4 Betting & Showdown Picks
From a star-studded packed leaderboard to a raucous hole-in-one celebration, Saturday's third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open was a spectacular show of why golf is such a great sport. With around 200,000 fans packing sunny TPC Scottsdale on another perfect day in the Arizona desert, the round concluded with rookie Sahith Theegala persevering to maintain the lead heading into Sunday's final round.
Theegala holds a one-shot lead over defending champion Brooks Koepka, who shot a 3-under 68 on the day. Breathing down both of their backs are a quintet of world-class players in Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Talor Gooch, Patrick Cantlay and Hideki Matsuyama. While Sam Ryder's hole-in-one on the infamous 16th hole stole much of the spotlight, the real story heading into tomorrow is the fantastic finish that awaits on Sunday. Thirteen of the past 15 events here finished with a scoring margin of one stroke, including seven playoffs.
Heading into Sunday, Koepka is the current favorite at +300, followed by Cantlay and Theegala at +600 and Schauffele and Scheffler at +700. Here at 4for4, we have pre-tournament outrights on Cantlay, Schauffele, Scheffler and Max Homa, who is only three shots back. I expect the youngster Theegala to falter down the stretch, and one of the elite players, namely Cantlay or Koepka, to close the deal and raise the trophy tomorrow.
