NBA Player Prop Bets: Tyus Jones Takes Over
The closer to the end of the season, the more understanding of the skills of bench players matter and how their skills jive with the remaining infrastructure in a starting unit. From the other perspective, how a new player(s) entering the starting lineup changes the responsibilities of the current starters is key to monitor as well. Those are the main factors that led to today’s props.

Today’s NBA Player Prop Bets (March 13, 2023)
Tyus Jones Over 11.5 Rebounds + Assists (+105 at PointsBet)
Tyus Jones is one of the highest-paid backup PGs in the NBA, and his ability to keep the Grizzlies afloat when Ja Morant is out is a big reason why. While he does not score at the level of Morant, Jones fills the other gaps admirably.
Jones has gone over this prop in seven of the 13 games he has stated when Ja Morant has been out. That includes going over in five of the last six games without Morant and having 14 or more RA in all five. Even in the game where Jones went under, he only had three assists, but it was on 15 potential assists. Memphis shot 38.7% from the field and 24.3% from deep in that game. The minutes are also safe for Jones; with no traditional PG to back him up, Memphis usually staggers Jones and Desmond Bane, giving more control of the offensive for a larger portion of his minutes to Jones.
The game today is the second consecutive against the Dallas Mavericks. Since the trade deadline, Dallas has the fifth-worst defense, and opponents have the fourth-highest eFG%. In the last two weeks, the Mavs have allowed the third most rebounds and third most assists to PGs. Last game, Jones had 10 assists on 17 potential assists and four rebounds on 10 rebounding chances. Dallas has the worst ORB rate in the last two weeks and is 2.1% clear of anyone else in that area. That means the Mavericks do not get offensive rebounds, leading to less competition for the smaller Jones.
