Recap Week 6: 13 Things You Need To Know

Welcome back was the theme of Week 6. Welcome back to London for a second straight week of early football. Welcome back to a number of fantasy stars who have missed time with injury. We welcomed back four teams from the season’s first bye week. The Philadelphia Eagles were gleeful for the return of their top two wide receivers, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, both of whom found the end zone. All in all, there were winners and losers for fantasy purposes. Let’s get right to it.

Top Players

Caleb Williams keeps raising the bar. He tossed four touchdowns in a romp over Jacksonville. Williams also reached a career-high in rushing with 56 yards. He threw for 226 yards and looked confident leading the offense. He has seven touchdowns and just one interception over his last three starts.

Chris Godwin had a giant afternoon in New Orleans. As the Buccaneer offense erupted for nearly 600 total yards, Godwin led the team in receiving with 11 catches for 125 yards. He reached the end zone twice, including a 55-yard catch and run that had him breaking tackles and outrunning defenders to the house.

Joe Mixon might not have been a welcome sight to the fans in attendance at Gillette Stadium, but the Texans seemed pleased to have the running back return. Mixon looked every bit of himself rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. He also caught a touchdown pass, chipping in 30 yards on a pair of receptions.

Pop Players

Keenan Allen still exists. It may have required crossing an ocean to find his game, but the veteran wide receiver seems to have found it. He caught all five of his targets for 41 yards and a pair of scores as the Bears trounced London’s favorite team in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It is not often that a 12th-year vet would be considered a pop player, but until today, it had seemed that Allen went to Chicago to disappear. It was nice to see him again.

Sean Tucker burst onto the scene taking full advantage of Rachaad White’s absence. Tucker, a second-year player out of Syracuse, set career highs in every category rushing 14 times for 136 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions on three targets for 56 yards and another score.

Drake Maye made his first start and brought smiles to the faces of the New England fanbase. Despite the Patriots losing their fifth straight contest, the stands exploded in cheers when Maye hit Kayshon Boutte on a 40-yard scoring strike. Maye showed a little rookie nervousness early in the game as the first five drives ended in a punt or a turnover. But, he settled in and displayed some of the skills that made him the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Maye ended his day with 243 passing yards and three touchdowns. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble, but he added 38 yards with his legs. While it was not a perfect performance, it was a promising debut.

Tyrone Tracy had a second strong game with Devin Singletary sidelined. The rookie back carried 17 times for 50 yards and a touchdown. He was also tied for the team lead in receiving, catching six passes for 57 yards. With 237 scrimmage yards over the past two weeks, Tracy figures to remain involved in the offense even after Singletary returns to the field.

Flop Players

Travis Etienne came into the game having dealt with a shoulder injury that limited him in practice the last two weeks and he sustained a hamstring injury in Sunday’s matchup. While the injuries were certainly a factor, the explosive dual-threat back appears to have a decreasing role in the offense giving way to Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson. Etienne carried three times, but decreased his season total by losing a yard on the day.

Calvin Ridley did not catch any of his eight targets on Sunday. He rushed one time for 9 yards as the Titans resumed their losing ways returning from the bye week. Ridley has caught just two of his last 14 targets and has been a non-factor in fantasy since Week 2.

Drop Players?

Jerome Ford left the Cleveland Browns’ contest in the first quarter. After initially being listed as questionable to return, he was ruled out in the early third quarter with a hamstring injury.

Chris Olave was taken to the locker room in the first quarter of the Saints’ loss where he was evaluated for a concussion. He did not return to the game.

Marvin Harrison Jr. exited the Cardinals’ game in the second quarter. He walked to the sideline and was taken into the medical tent for evaluation. He was eventually ruled out of the game with a concussion.

Dallas Goedert injured his hamstring during Philadelphia’s victory over Cleveland. Goedert did not return to the game.
