12 Undervalued Fantasy Football Sleepers on ESPN

Comparing the difference between a player's 4for4’s ranking and his ESPN ADP allows us to unearth the most undervalued fantasy sleepers on the site.

Ten of our top ESPN sleepers for 2017 are discussed below, followed by two tables that list the fantasy value for every player 4for4 has ranked in the top 200 in PPR and standard. The tables are sorted by Sleeper Score, which is simply ADP minus 4for4 ranking; the higher the Sleeper Score, the more undervalued a player is.

QB Marcus Mariota - Titans

Mariota is second among quarterbacks in our Sleeper Score and has a top-five ceiling in 2017. His ADP around the 10/11 turn allows drafters to load up on at least eight rounds worth of RBs, WRs, and perhaps a TE. Mariota is loaded with weapons this season after the Titans added Corey Davis in the first round and Eric Decker in free agency. He also will play behind what is perhaps the NFL’s best offensive line. Mariota has averaged 17.7 fantasy points per game in his career -- about what the QB9 averaged last year, per our Fantasy Points Browser.

QB Philip Rivers - Chargers

Can you name the only two quarterbacks with four consecutive seasons of 28 passing touchdowns or more? It's Rivers and Drew Brees. Considering his 12th round ADP, that's almost two rounds later than drafters should be snagging him.

QB Andy Dalton - Bengals

Dalton is being drafted in the 12th round, but it should be noted that he had a top-12 fantasy season in 2012 and a top-five (!) season in 2013. With a a few new weapons on offense, he’s also a high-ceiling QB2 for your ESPN team to potentially pair with Taylor if you miss out on Mariota.

RB Darren Sproles - Eagles

Sproles is the best top-30 RB value in PPR, and remember, ESPN has switched its default settings to PPR this year. Sproles is being drafted near the 10/11 turn and remains in an offense where the early-down back, Ryan Mathews, saw less than 40 percent of the backfield touch share. This may be Sproles's last year in the NFL, but we’ve seen other productive players go out with a useful fantasy season in recent years.

RB Ameer Abdullah - Lions

Rushing Expectation author Joe Holka is a big believer in Abdullah’s talent after extensive film study. Obviously, the questions are whether he can stay healthy and if he will get any portion of his early-down touch share vultured by Zach Zenner. We think of Theo Riddick as more of the PPR value in this Lions' backfield, but at an eight-round ADP, Abdullah is the best value among our top-24 PPR RBs -- he’s being drafted four rounds too late.

RB Tevin Coleman - Falcons

Coleman is due for some touchdown regression after an extraordinarily high TD rate a year ago, but ESPN drafters are punting on him for too long. Right now, he's going near the end of the 8th round. That's great value for a RB we still have as a flex/low-end RB2. It's more than two rounds later than he should be going.
