FanDuel Week 12 Slate Breakdown with Cash and GPP Picks

Below I give my overall FanDuel cash game and tournament strategy thoughts and discuss how players fit into these strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.

Main Slate Cash Game Strategy

The top value plays at every position are concentrated near the top tier of pricing and there isn’t a clear frontrunner at any position. Probably the biggest decision point of the week is whether to jam in either of the Steelers stars, as both Antonio Brown and LeVeon Bell have price tags well over $9,000.

Quarterback

Kansas City is a 10-point home favorite and Alex Smith ($7,600) is projected as the top quarterback value of the week. The Chiefs are projected to score over 28 points and only four teams have thrown at a higher rate in the red zone than Kansas City. While Vegas suggests the Chiefs will bounce back from their Week 11 disaster, Chris Raybon suggests defenses may have solved the Chiefs, which is why I prefer Russell Wilson ($8,600) as my top cash game quarterback. Wilson has arguably been the most important piece of any offense this season, accounting for 23 of the Seahawks' 24 offensive touchdowns. Seattle is favored by 6.5 points with a projected point total over 25, and only seven teams have allowed a higher touchdown rate through the air this season than the 49ers. While San Francisco ranks last in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to running backs, most of the damage on the ground will be done by Russ, as he is one of two quarterbacks with at least 300 rushing yards this season. The other quarterback is Cam Newton ($8,000), who is projected as a top-three value at his position against a Jets defense ranked 29th in quarterback aFPA. Cam gets a boost with the return of Greg Olsen, but Newton still presents issues as a floor play, as half of his games have resulted in 13 or fewer fantasy points. Paying all the way up for Tom Brady ($9,100) may prohibit the flexibility of other roster spots, but he is the only quarterback averaging over 300 yards per game. New England is projected to score over 32 points against a Dolphins defense that has allowed the second-highest red zone touchdown rate through the air this season.
