FanDuel Week 15 Slate Breakdown with Cash and GPP Picks
Below I give my overall FanDuel cash game and tournament strategy thoughts and discuss how players fit into these strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.
Main Slate Cash Game Strategy
The top five values on this week’s slate are skill players priced $8,000 and above and quarterback value slants towards the pricier plays as well. With so much value up top, this week sets up for a stars and scrubs approach in cash games.
Quarterback
Russell Wilson ($8,400) projects as this week’s top quarterback value with the best odds to hit cash game value of any player at his position, both by a wide margin. With an over/under at 47 and a spread of just 2.5, Seattle’s bout with the Rams is expected to be one of the highest scoring of the week. No player has been a bigger part of his offense this year than Wilson, who has accounted for 32 of his team’s 33 touchdowns and is on Chris Raybon’s short list of matchup-proof plays. The only other quarterback with better than 50% odds to hit cash value is Cam Newton ($7,900). Carolina hosts a Packers defense ranked 29th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to quarterbacks, allowing 9 passing touchdowns over the last three games, including a 3-touchdown game to DeShone Kizer. Newton has rushed for at least 40 yards in seven of his last eight games, including four games with at least 70 yards on the ground.
Ben Roethlisberger ($8,000) and Drew Brees ($8,400) don’t account for as much of their respective offenses as the aforementioned plays, but having some exposure to the Steelers and Saints is imperative this week. Owners who play multiple cash game lineups might consider diversifying from Russ and Cam with shares of Ben and Brees. The Steelers host the Patriots in a game with a 54-point over/under and a spread of just 3 points. No quarterback has more touchdowns over the past six weeks than Roethlisberger. New Orleans is at home with the highest implied point total of the week against a Jets defense ranked last in quarterback aFPA, but first against running backs. The Saints have the second-highest passing rate in neutral game script over the last six weeks and have thrown at least 65% of the time in two of their last three games.
Anyone looking to roster the most expensive skill players should consider Case Keenum ($7,400) at home against a Bengals defense that may be without their top two cornerbacks for the second straight week. Only three quarterbacks are averaging more fantasy points per pass attempt over the last six weeks and Minnesota has a top-three implied total (26.5) on the main slate.
