Browsn RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, but this was the case last week as well, and Lewis rushed the ball 31 times to Jerome Harrison's 8. Barring a setback, Lewis looks to be the feature back moving forward.

Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring, questionable) was limited in practice again Friday as he has been all week. If Lewis can play, he expects to be a 1-2 punch with Jerome Harrison. With Harrison's nice performance last week, we expect Lewis to be worked back in slowly, expecially if he is innefective as he was earlier in the season.

Jerome Harrison is ''a good back, always has been,'' Jamal Lewis said. ''[Harrison's] a smaller back [5-foot-9, 205 pounds], but at the same time, he still can hit it up in there. He's an elusive guy, studies well, is a smart back and very instinctive.''

In his fourth pro season since the Browns drafted him in the fifth round in 2006, Harrison had his first 100-yard rushing game in last week's overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, running for 121 yards on 29 carries.

''I was surprised to see him get 29 carries,'' Lewis said. ''I know how he feels after that, because I've had a few of those in my career. So I just tried to offer him a little advice on how to get back and be ready to roll [Sunday].''

Instead of seeing Harrison as direct competition, Lewis recognizes he and his understudy form a solid one-two punch.

''We offer different running styles because I got him by about 40 pounds,'' said the 5-foot-11, 245-pound Lewis. ''But at the same time, you look around this league and that's what you see — one-two punches, backs that go in and change paces and do different things. I think that's what we can offer.''

Lewis hopes to get back into the action Sunday at the Buffalo Bills.

''Now we have two guys that can go in and play first, second or third down, and do it well,'' Browns coach Eric Mangini said.

Browns running back Jerome Harrison, filling in for the injured Jamal Lewis, had 121 yards on 29 carries in week four action.

Jamal Lewis is hampered by a hamstring injury and is in jeopardy of missing his second-straight game. Rookie James Davis (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, meaning the Browns are down to Jerome Harrison and rookie Chris Jennings for today and maybe more.

The Browns signed RB Chris Jennings off their practice squad and placed rookie RB James Davis on injured reserve. This means Jerome Harrison should get most of the carries this week if Jamal Lewis (doubtful) can't go.

Browns RB Jamal Lewis, kicker Phil Dawson and guard Floyd Womack were all idle during today's practice and are doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

RB James Davis, who participated fully on Thursday, did not practice Friday and is questionable with a shoulder injury. Doubtful means there's a 25% chance of playing and questionable means 50%.

Coach Eric Mangini held out hope that some or all of the injured guys might play.

"I think there's a chance for all the guys,'' said Mangini. "You want to give them a chance to go to the end.''

If the ''doubtfuls'' can't play, Lewis (hamstring) will be replaced by Jerome Harrison, Dawson (calf) will be replaced by Billy Cundiff and Womack (ankle) will be replaced by Hank Fraley.
