Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Najee is a new addition to the injury report, which is a cause for concern, but the limited tag suggests that the injury is not overly severe in nature. Najee has been elite as a rookie and only figures to get better as he gets more comfortable in the offense. Health is likely the only thing standing in the way of him claiming Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Najee should be good to go for Week 10, but fantasy managers will still want to monitor his designation on tomorrow's final injury report.

Steelers expected to put JuJu Smith-Schuster on injured reserve and are fearful he will miss rest of the season after injuring his shoulder vs Broncos, per sources.

Claypool stood out this past week in the Steelers win, but he and Johnson would likely see a bump in targets without Smith-Schuster in the lineup. Washington is dealing with a groin injury but it's possible he takes on a bigger role at some point, although he was reportedly unhappy and requested to be traded earlier in the year. McCloud had one catch for a yard this past week. The team has shown they're not afraid to use Harris in the passing game so it's possible he absorbs more targets as well.

He’s considered day-to-day after undergoing all tests and receiving negative results, according to the rest of Rapoport's tweet. The Steelers are already short-handed at WR thanks to Diontae Johnson's knee injury, so we'll have to keep an eye on JuJu's status heading into Week 4. Washington could see a bigger role but it was Harris who collected 14 catches out of the backfield in Week 3. The Steelers travel to Green Bay for a late afternoon game against the Packers.

In his '10 Takeaways' column, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic wrote that RBs Najee Harris and Anthony McFarland will be the team's one-two punch in the backfield. "McFarland has shown the most promise of all the competitors," Kaboly wrote. "He fits into Matt Canada’s scheme, which is a plus, and his running abilities are notably better than a year ago."

Kalen Ballage was mentioned as a similar runner as Harris.

Two things to take from here. 1) McFarland will have a steady role as a pass catcher and runner. 2) If Harris were to be out for any amount of time, Ballage would likely take his role.

If you are of the handcuffing persuasion, Ballage is the Harris handcuff according to Kaboly.

HC Mike Tomlin says Najee Harris needs the process of game prep and to ultimately play.

Tomlin went on to say the team is going to make sure he participates in all preseason opportunities - whether game prep or actually playing in the game. It's hard to imagine Harris won't overtake the likes of Ballage, McFarland and Snell, but Harris is worth monitoring in preseason games to see how he progresses. Harris is ranked 13th on our RB list.
