Williams now has a clear path to be the main back this week against the Jets. NYJ were ranked 13th coming into last week in terms of allowing fantasy points to RBs, so it's not the best matchup but Williams should be in our RB2 range when rankings come out.

The Green Bay Packers claimed RB Kapri Bibbs off waivers from the Washington Redskins, the team announced Monday.

The move could be linked to the availability of starting running back Aaron Jones. Jones took himself out of the game in Sunday’s Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears due to a knee injury suffered in the first quarter and then did not return.

Jones said following the game, he think he has a sprained MCL which is the same injury he suffered against the Bears at Soldier Field last year.

Williams got all the carries following the injury to Jones, and looks to be in store for a big workload assuming Jones is unable to go for Weeks 16 and 17.

Aaron Jones, the Green Bay Packers' most productive running back, suffered a knee injury in the first half of Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Bears and did not return.

Reports say Jones thinks he has a sprained MCL, which cost Jones time last year. He was seen on the bench with ice on his right knee during the first half but was ruled out at the start of the second half. He carried only four times for 8 yards before his injury. Williams would be a potential add heading into Week 16 as the Packers visit the Jets.

The Baltimore Ravens made a low-risk move to help the NFL's No. 24 rushing attack, trading a draft pick to the Green Bay Packers for running back Ty Montgomery, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson.

The Packers will receive a 2020 seventh-round draft pick in return, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The move comes after Monty had a costly fumble on a late kickoff against the Rams last week. Montgomery could be an improvement over Allen in Baltimore, and will give the Ravens some more versatility at RB. We think Alex Collins keeps his role as the primary ball carrier. Meanwhile in Green Bay, it means Jones and Williams will continue a share of the workload, but it likely means more of a fantasy boost for Jones. Williams should still see passing down snaps because of his blocking. The Pack will have to add anther RB, and the story said Darius Jackson was on the team early in the season and could be an option.

If the bye week doesn't yield more touches for Aaron Jones, then perhaps nothing will.

He's the Green Bay Packers' most productive running back, yet you'll find him nowhere on the NFL's list of leading rushers -- not with just 32 attempts, or 8.0 per game since he returned from suspension in Week 3.

His 5.9 yards per carry average ranks fifth in the league among all backs with at least 32 carries.

Much of that, according to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, has come on his own, the story said. Among all backs with at least 30 rushes this season heading into the Packers' bye last week, no one had the blocking advantage -- defined as how many blockers versus defenders in the box -- less often than Jones. According to those numbers, only 41 percent of his runs have come with a blocking advantage, while teammate Jamaal Williams has had the blocking advantage 64 percent of the time but averages just 3.8 yards per carry. The story also added that with Aaron Rodgers at QB, a balance of run and pass isn't likely, hurting Jones' fantasy value.

— Jamaal Williams: 28 snaps, 11 carries for 27 yards (2.5 average). Long run of 11 yards; on his other 10 carries he had 15 yards (1.5 average). Had four of his carries in the second half.

— Ty Montgomery: 20 snaps, 5 carries for 18 yards (3.6 average); 2 catches (on three targets) for 56 yards. Long run of 9 yards; on his other four carries he had 9 yards (2.3 average). Had three of his carries in the second half.

Even though it was by one, Jones did lead the way in snaps and touches in just his second game back. On the season, Jones is averaging 6.3 yards per carry and already has more rushes than Montgomery (17 to 16) while Williams is averaging 3.4 yards. As the story goes on to say, we’ll see how long this committee approach really lasts.

Whether anyone liked it or not, Packers coach Mike McCarthy wasn’t about to run Aaron Jones into the ground in his first game since the Aug. 30 preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, after he served a two-week suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy following his marijuana arrest last year and no-contest plea in February.

But if there’s a running back who can take over a game, it’s Jones. And this Sunday against a Buffalo Bills defense that has allowed only 80 rushing yards per game so far, McCarthy will have to at least consider a game plan that includes much more of Jones.

In his first game of the season, Jones caught one pass for five yards and had six carries for 42 yards, but as the story pointed out, all of the Packers RBs had success running the ball. So, this looks more like a committee for now as the team feels all three of their backs can play all three downs if needed. But the story added that Jones' burst might push him to the front of the group eventually.

According to coach Mike McCarthy, Aaron Jones, who is returning from a two-game suspension, will play behind Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery this week.

Jones has long been loved more by the fantasy community than his own head coaches. That comes down to his lack of consistency or ability to do the little things as well as Jamaal Williams. Still, it should be difficult for Green Bay to keep him off the field considering how much more dynamic he is than current starter Williams. Jones should be owned in most leagues, but isn't startable for now.

What happened to that running-back-by-committee approach the Packers coach suggested all offseason?

Don't forget, HC Mike McCarthy left himself an out during an interview with ESPN back in June.

"But if one of them would emerge as that full-time guy, then you have to have that ability to adjust to that," he said at the time.

With all but one training camp practice completed and half the preseason schedule in the books, McCarthy might be ready to use that out, thanks to Jamaal Williams.

McCarthy said, "He's really poised to have a big year," according to the story. All along the team has preached it would be a committee at RB. And chances are Montgomery will still be heavily involved in the passing game going forward, but the team has a couple of weeks to see if Williams can continue his hot streak right into the regular season before the suspended Jones comes back. The story said Williams has also improved his pass blocking and receiving skills.
