Jags TE Marcedes Lewis sustained a high-ankle sprain.

Lewis will miss six to eight weeks and now looms as a candidate for Jacksonville's injured reserve-designated to return list unless the team is hopeful he can make it back sooner than later. Lewis had the team's only TD in the ugly loss to Washington. He finished with two catches for 71 yards after six catches for 35 yards in Week 1. Clay Harbor and Brandon Barden are next up on the depth chart, but the Jaguars offense is looking more and more like one to just stay away from.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts was limited, so was TE Marcedes Lewis (hamstring), WR Marqise Lee (hamstring), CB Dwayne Gratz (ankle).

Lee couldn't finish practice, so Allen Hurns is looking like an attractive start even with Shorts likely back for Week 2.

The Cincinnati Bengals placed tight end Tyler Eifert on injured reserve with a designation to return due to the elbow injury he suffered in Sunday's game, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

NFL teams are allowed to use the IR designation in just one case each season. Under the guidelines of the rule, Eifert won't be eligible to practice for six weeks and can't return to game action for eight weeks after he is officially put on short-term IR.

Eifert was poised for a breakout season prior to the injury. He can be safely dropped in virtually all formats. Jermaine Gresham finished #14 and #10 in PPR formats in 2011 and 2012 before Eifert's arrival. He doesn't have much upside, but he offers consistent baseline-type production at the position. Delanie Walker, Travis Kelce, Larry Donnell, Tim Wright and Marcedes Lewis are other good-to-decent fallback options.

“The first thing we found is that we averaged .6 yards more per carry when he was in the game,” Fisch said. “The second thing is he became an explosive play threat for us. And the third thing is, he scored touchdowns. What we’ve learned from doing this evaluation in the offseason is he was able to contribute playmaking ability. He made some big-time plays.”

Lewis was the #8 TE over the final eight weeks of the season, so he has some TE2/streaming appeal for a player going very late in fantasy drafts.
