Jaylen Samuels had knee surgery. He will be out at least a month.

Fantasy Impact:

Conner owners should take note, especially after Conner has been dealing with knee and ankle injuries this season. Samuels was getting more time in wildcat formation plays as of late on top of being a handcuff for Conner. Next up on the depth chart are Snell and Nix.

Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week. He was removed from the injury report so he's good to go. He'll share work with Jaylen Samuels but is still a solid RB2 even if his ceiling isn't as high.

JuJu Smith-Schuster(toe), James Conner (ankle) and Vance McDonald (shoulder) all missed practice on Thursday.

Beat reporter Dave Lolley tweeted, "The expectation for the Steelers remains that JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner and Vance McDonald all will be ready to go Sunday despite not practicing Wednesday or Thursday. Friday will be a telling day."

Fantasy Impact:

If James Conner practices on Friday, he will likely play. If he can't go, Jaylen Samuels gets a big boost in usage and becomes a must-start in most leagues.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadricep) did not practice Wednesday. The Colts have a Week 6 bye and a very tough matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday night, so they may elect to take their lumps with the plan to get Hilton healthy for the stretch run. In Week 4, the routes run were as follows (per PFF): Deon Cain (42), Chester Rogers (42), Zach Pascal (38) and Parris Campbell (32). Campbell led the way with eight targets, Pascal saw seven (and led in yards with 72), Rodgers saw six and Cain saw four.

Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Conner was able to return to the game on Monday night, so he may just be getting a day off. If he were to miss, Jaylen Samuels would be vaulted into RB2 territory.

Steelers RB James Conner says ankle is fine

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said earlier Tuesday that running back James Conner was being evaluated for an ankle injury.

Conner reports that he’s fine.

The Pro Bowler confirmed to 93.7 The Fan that he got treatment on his ankle but added that nothing is torn. He said he could practice Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

We can never really trust when a player says he's fine, so this is still something to monitor. As the story said, it seems optimistic, and Tomlin said he expects Conner to be limited in practice this week. But it's at least encouraging for owners following an 18-125-1 line Monday night.

Tomlin says James Conner (ankle) and Cam Heyward (quad) are being evaluated still. They'll be limited some this week. Practice will dictate game availability.

Tomlin is hopeful on Vince Williams, Vance McDonald and Anthony Chickillo.

Fantasy Impact:

Samuels is shaping up to be a must-add this week off waiver wires as Conner's status looks a bit cloudy heading into Week 5. The good news is Conner did return to the game after hurting the ankle, but is also dealing with a knee issue which was leading up to Week 3 at San Francisco.
