The Cardinals have waived RB Tony Jones from the 53-man roster.

Perhaps a sign that James Conner will be activated to the 53-man roster in time for Sunday's game after returning to practice this week.

The Cardinals backfield has been mostly uninspiring since Conner went down in Week 5, so this is good news for the team and fantasy managers alike. We could see a Conner-Kyler Murray pairing as early as this week and if Conner is floating around a waiver wire for whatever reason, he needs to be added ASAP.

Cardinals officially designated RB James Conner to return from the injured reserve list. Conner can begin practicing today, and the team can activate him to the 53-man roster any time during the next 21 days.

Murray is in line to start in Week 10 barring any kind of setback. Murray has been practicing for a while, so the assumption is he'll be good to go. Murray gets a much better matchup this week vs. Atlanta than he would have last week against Cleveland. As a result, we rank Murray 14th among our QBs, so the thinking is he'll produce at a higher-end QB2 level.

The Arizona Cardinals hope to open the practice window for running back James Conner, who has missed the past four games due to a knee injury and is now eligible to return off the injured reserve list, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“He’s doing well,” Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday. “He’ll ramp up and we’ll see how he does. Hopefully, we’ll get him out there, too,”

Opening Conner’s practice window this week would give him a 21-day designated to return period to work with his teammates before Arizona would be required to activate him to fill a roster spot or shut him down, the story said. The team is also looking to start QB Kyler Murray this week. Before going down with the injury, Conner had racked up 68 carries for 364 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and two touchdowns through five starts. He added 30 more yards on eight catches, the story said.

There is a catch however as the post went on to say: IF all goes well in practice this week. But keep in mind Murray has been practicing since his window opened. Gannon says Murray will take the reps with starters this week, so barring a setback, it will be Murray in Week 10.

The Cardinals will start Clayton Tune at quarterback Sunday against the Browns.

Tune will become the 9th rookie to start a game this season. Kyler Murray could be getting close to a return and was listed as questionable for the game. This after the Cardinals traded Josh Dobbs to the Vikings earlier this week. Tune threw for over 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in his final year at Houston. The Cardinals drafted Tune in the 5th round in April.

Cardinals are listing RB Emari Demercado as out for Sunday’s game at Cleveland, and QB Kyler Murray as questionable.

Being that Williams has only logged snaps in three games since signing with Arizona, one would assume that Ingram will be the lead back on Sunday. Regardless, nether should be started in fantasy leagues.

Jonathan Gannon says they haven’t decided who will start for the Cardinals at QB vs Browns Sunday. He said they’ll likely decide on the plane today or tomorrow whether it’s Kyler Murray or Clayton Tune. Said they’ve had a good week of practice.

The prevailing thought is that the team is going to wait another week on Kyler, but it doesn't look like it's 100% decided yet. If Murray gets the nod, it might be best to wait a week to start him in fantasy.

According to multiple reports, however, the team is planning to have Clayton Tune start the game against the Browns. It would be the second regular season appearance for Tune after he threw one pass for four yards on a fake punt in Week 7.

This story has been a bit confusing over the past 24 hours. What we do know is Dobbs isn't starting, so it will be Tune or Murray. But reports are saying Murray may not be ready, and if that's the case, Tune will get the start. However, the story went on to say Gannon said the team was working through scenarios that could include Murray being active as Tune’s backup if he doesn’t get the starting nod, so a lot of the picture still needs to be filled in before the Cardinals get to Cleveland in Week 9.

Week 9 might be Kyler Murray time.

After Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Joshua Dobbs would remain the team’s starter for their game in Cleveland but Gannon reversed course on Monday. Gannon said that Murray or rookie Clayton Tune will get the start at quarterback against the Browns.

The story went on to say Gannon said he changed his mind about sticking with Dobbs after watching film of Sunday’s loss and that Murray will get the start as long as the team feels he’s healthy enough to go. Murray remains on the PUP list after tearing his ACL last season, but he has been on the practice field and is participating fully in the team’s workouts, the story went on to say. It seems like everything should point to Murray here, but it's obviously something to keep a close eye on until it's official. It's not a great matchup, but if Murray is still on your wire he should be added.
