9 Fantasy Football ADP Risers & Fallers After Preseason Week 3
As the fantasy sports industry continues to grow, new metrics and ways to evaluate players are cropping up on what seems to be a daily basis. One of the most popular measurable ways to track player rankings and how each player is being perceived is by their average draft position, or ADP.
With redraft and seasonal leagues getting underway, analyzing MFL10 ADP from week-to-week during the preseason is helpful to gather an overall impression of where players are being drafted. Drafters of MFL10 best-ball leagues tend to be sharper than your average fantasy football participant, so you may find players will slip a bit further in some leagues than others. While you shouldn't ride or die with ADP, it can be very useful in pinpointing undervalued players that the sharps are on.
In this piece, I’ll take a look at some of the biggest risers and fallers from the second week of the preseason, comparing their ADP from Aug. 23 to Aug. 30, and how you should approach them moving forward. A player’s ADP can change for a plethora of reasons, and diving into the cause of that movement can certainly help come draft time.

Chris Hogan, New England Patriots (+110 overall ADP)
Yep, you’re reading that correctly: the New England wide receiver went from an ADP of 206 to 96, a 53% jump, after Julian Edelman suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third preseason game. I may be alone on an island, but New England is not that transparent. Edelman’s targets may be spread around a bit more than to just fourth-year man Hogan. Danny Amendola has played the slot before, and could see an uptick in targets, along with James White, Dion Lewis, and maybe even Dwayne Allen.
While a rise in Hogan’s ADP is indeed warranted, if it continues to skyrocket higher than the eighth round, he becomes too expensive, even in that offense.
Kevin White, Chicago Bears (+31 overall ADP)
Another beneficiary of preseason injury-fest, White’s elevated ADP comes compliments of Cameron Meredith’s torn ACL. As the No. 2 receiver in Chicago just last week, White’s ADP was in the 14th round, but climbed up to the 11th, as a result of Meredith’s diagnosis. The former first-rounder is certainly talented, but missed his entire rookie season due to injuries of his own, followed by another sidelining due to injury after just four games last season.
If he can remain healthy in 2017, White has a chance to step up as the Bears No. 1 receiver despite the mediocre at best quarterback situation in Chicago. At his current 128 ADP, White is worth a shot, but if the hype elevates him anymore, I’d pass until we see what he can really do.
