The Training Room: Week 11 Injury Updates
The injury bug was relatively quiet in Week 10, but there was a few injuries that can have massive impact for the remainder of the fantasy season. The fantasy playoffs are right around the corner and each week is becoming more important for a final push to either make the playoffs or put you in a better position to dominate your league when the time comes. Here are the initial injuries that you need to be aware of in Week 11 and we'll continue to update this list when we the injuries continue to be revealed.
Updated 11/14/18
Player | Position | Team | Injury | Recovery Timetable | Potential Pickup | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cooper Kupp | WR | Rams | Possible Torn ACL | Out For Season | Josh Reynolds | Kupp suffered a non-contact injury and went down immediately early in the 4th quarter. It is a pretty typical non-contact injury which usually spells trouble for the ACL, and the MRI will likely confirm what we are already know. He'll be out for the season and he's not a lock to be ready for the beginning of 2019 depending on if there are any other tissues involved. |
Martavis Bryant | WR | Raiders | Possible Torn PCL | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 11 | Brandon LaFell, Seth Roberts | Bryant suffered a knee injury that is being called a torn PCL. He'll have testing done via MRI to determine the severity of the PCL and what the next step should be. PCL tears don't have to be season ending, it just depends on how stable the knee feels and if they are able to manage it conservatively. Bryant is not a fantasy option, especially with the Raiders playing for the #1 overall pick. |
A.J. Green | WR | Bengals | Sprained Toe | Doubtful for Week 11 but will be a game time decision | Tyler Boyd, John Ross | Green hasn't practiced all week and is officially listed as doubtful, but he is going to try and test out the toe in warm ups to see how it feels. I still expect him not to play Sunday, but the fact that the Bengals season is on the line he might try and gut it out, which isn't ideal for his long term outlook if he ends up re-aggravating it or making it worse. |
Sammy Watkins | WR | Chiefs | Sprained Foot | Questionable for Week 11 | Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson | Watkins was limited early in the week at practice but then looked to have some sort of set back later in the week and did not practice on Friday or Saturday. I'm skeptical that Watkins will be available, which makes his situation pretty iffy with a Monday night game. If you have him rostered, I'd make sure you have a backup plan with the expectation that he will not play. |
James Conner | RB | Steelers | Concussion | Removed from injury report | Jaylen Samuels | Conner practiced in full on Wednesday and didn't need much time to get cleared from the league's concussion protocol. Conner will be locked in as a solid option the rest of the season with Le'Veon Bell holding out. |
Ronald Jones | RB | Buccaneers | Strained Hamstring | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 11 | Peyton Barber, Jacquizz Rodgers | Jones did practice in limited fashion all week, but the Bucs will hold him out another week in hopes that he is close to returning. |
Randall Cobb | WR | Packers | Strained Hamstring | RULED OUT FOR TNF | Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown | Cobb continues to have setbacks after having another re-aggravation to his lingering hamstring issue that he's been dealing with for quite some time now. He'll have a good amount of time to be ready for next week but at this point, there's no guarantee he'll be ready |
Marvin Jones | WR | Lions | Knee Bone Bruise | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 11 | Kenny Golladay, T.J. Jones | Jones has been dealing with what has been diagnosed as a knee bone bruise and will miss Week 11. Bone bruises are painful and can be multi-week injuries depending on the location of the bone bruise and how much stress is put on it. With the Lions playing on Thanksgiving day, Jones' outlook for that game looks in doubt as well. |
Jamison Crowder | WR | Redskins | Sprained Ankle | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 11 | Josh Doctson, Maurice Harris | Crowder had another MRI on his ankle earlier this week to figure out why the ankle is still giving him this much trouble. The MRI revealed that there is still some healing that needs to occur for the ankle to get back to 100% so Crowder will continue to sit out and try and get healthy. |
Chris Thompson | RB | Redskins | Rib Injury | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 11 | Kapri Bibbs | Thompson apparently is in still a significant amount of pain to be able to play this weekend. With the Redskins playing on Thanksgiving as well, it'll be hard to imagine Thompson being ready for that game as well. |
Joe Flacco | QB | Ravens | Strained Hip | Doubtful For Week 11 | Lamar Jackson, Robert Griffin III | Flacce hasn't practiced all week as expected and will miss Week 11. However, it sounds like Flacco is improving quickly and could be available in the next few weeks depending on how the Ravens next few games go. If Lamar Jackson ends up showing well, they might ride the hot hand and see what the rookie can do down the stretch. But the Ravens still trust Flacco and he could be inserted into the lineup when healthy. This is definitely a situation to monitor, Jackson has got a great matchup against the Bengals Sunday, but he'd be a risky proposition as there's just a lot of unknown about how the Ravens plan on utilizing him. |
Stefon Diggs | WR | Vikings | Rib Injury | Removed from injury report | Laquon Treadwell | Diggs has practiced in full all week and was removed from the injury report. Diggs will return for a big division game against the Bears and should be used as your normally would. |
Keke Coutee | WR | Texans | Strained Hamstring | Questionable for Week 11 | Demaryius Thomas | Coutee was limited in practice all week but the expectation is that he will be ready to go Sunday against the Redskins. With Will Fuller out, Coutee could have a decent role moving forward the rest of the year, even with Demaryius Thomas around. |
Ryan Tannehill | QB | Dolphins | Strained Shoulder | DNP (Bye Week) | Brock Osweiler | Tannehill is finally able to throw the football without pain, which is a great thing considering he's missed the last five weeks. He's looking to be ready for when the Dolphins come off their bye in Week 12, so if you need QB help in 2QB leagues he could potentially be an option. |
