Tennessee Titans tight end Bo Scaife has skipped most voluntary workouts since signing his franchise tender, leading some to conclude that he's not happy because he doesn't have a long-term contract. But Scaife says that's not the case.
"I love the Titans and my teammates," Scaife said after reporting to the offseason program on Tuesday. "There are no hard feelings. I am glad to be back."
Scaife would prefer a longer deal than the one-year, $4.9 million franchise tender, but he says that isn't going to affect the way he plays in 2010.
"Regardless of everything, I am going to do my job," Scaife said. "I am preparing for the best season of my career.''
Titans management want to see another year of production before giving Scaife a long term deal. This is a perfect fantasy scenario because the player is now motivated by money. Assuming Vince Young continues his progression, TE Scaife could be a nice (and inexpensive)surprise.
