2019 Rankings Breakdown: Wide Receivers

We've released our initial rankings for the 2019 fantasy football season. Typically, they require some explanation. Our process is arduous and time-tested, and while it provides a good starting point, these rankings can and will change significantly throughout the spring and summer as injuries occur, camp battles develop, and rookies (or other young players) emerge.

In this series, I’m going through the initial rankings and explaining my thoughts about each position as a whole. I’ll also discuss why a few specific players are ranked where they are (relative to the average ADP at DRAFT and Best Ball 10s). I’ll go over the receiver position in this article.

More Rankings Breakdowns: QB | RB | TE

If early drafts are any indication, the first round of 2019 drafts are going to be pretty RB-heavy. According to DRAFT ADP, 10 of the first 13 picks are running backs, with two receivers (DeAndre Hopkins and Davante Adams) and one tight end (Travis Kelce). In Best Ball 10s, ADP shows that nine of the first 12 picks are running backs, With Hopkins, Adams and Michael Thomas going in the first round. This means that former first-round receivers like Thomas, Odell Beckham, Julio Jones and Antonio Brown may be available well into the second round. Given the depth at the running back position, drafting one or no backs in the first two rounds will once again be a perfectly viable option.
