IDP Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 2

We had glorious football on our TV, phone, and computer screens and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, along with football came injuries and they came quicker than the Fast and Furious movies. Some of the big names who got hurt; Drue Tranquill, Tremaine Edmunds, and Blake Cashman.

This season, combined with injuries, COVID has the potential to ravage fantasy rosters, thus making the waiver wire an even more important asset to fantasy managers in 2020. I'll try to identify the IDP assets on your wire which will help your fantasy squad weather any storms, whether it's injury, suspension, or God forbid, COVID.

Let's take a look at our IDP waiver wire targets for Week 2.

Linebacker

Nick Vigil, LB, Los Angeles Chargers

An ankle injury knocked Drue Tranquill out after just a few snaps. It wasn't Denzel Perryman or Kyzir White who filled in, but Nick Vigil. Vigil lined up opposite Kenneth Murray. Vigil was used all over in different alignments and ended up appearing in 85% of the snaps once Tranquill exited. He finished the game with an 8.6% tackle rate, however, if he's going to get the snap usage, he'll be worth the pickup, especially if you were a Tranquill owner, and your wire is bereft of talent.

Myles Jack, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jack has been inefficient during his stay in Jacksonville. It's possible he's been playing out of position, but even when he played weak-side a few seasons ago, he finished with a tackle rate of fewer than 10%. The Jaguars brought in Joe Schobert to handle the defensive play calls and assignments. So far, it looks like a success. He ran down ball carriers, limited yards after the catch, made a solid goal-line stop on Jonathan Taylor, plus he had a sack. Jack finished with a 14.8% tackle rate - resulting in 11 tackles (eight solos).

Neville Hewitt, LB, New York Jets

Blake Cashman, like a lot of other LBs, got hurt early in the game. Neville Hewitt wore the dot out of the gate, even with Cashman on the field. Hewitt finished the game with seven tackles, though only two were solo. He didn't leave the field, so he has Gregg Williams' trust and appears to be the three-down guy - even when Avery Williamson returns.

Jon Bostic, LB, Washington Football Team

Bostic is boring, but in IDP, that doesn't matter - he produces. Thomas Davis was inactive this week, but Bostic was still going to call the plays regardless. Bostic finished with an 11.8% tackle rate and finished with eight tackles, and also notched a sack. Bostic will be worth owning as an LB3/4 - even when Davis returns.

Tyrel Dodson, LB, Buffalo Bills

Keep an eye on Tremaine Edmunds's status throughout the week. He suffered a shoulder injury and Tyrel Dodson manned the playcalling responsibilities in his absence. Dodson finished with four tackles and a sack in 17 snaps. He made a really nice play on Darnold behind the line. He dropped back slightly, and while Darnold was scrambling, he closed on him on and made the play. If Edmunds misses any time, Dodson looks to be next man up, and most importantly, wearing the dot.
