2021 Wyndham Championship: Round 4 Matchups
After three rounds of action at hot and humid Sedgefield Country Club, Russell Henley maintained his lead in the Wyndham Championship by shooting a 1-under 69. He holds a three-shot advantage on Tyler McCumber with six other players sitting four shots back at 11-under. Favorite Webb Simpson had his struggles on Saturday, carding an even-par 70. Henley struggled at times with his approach game losing 1.2 strokes, yet his multiple-shot cushion on the lead remains. He admitted he was a bit tentative and nervous during his round, which isn't optimal considering the final round typically packs more pressure. When analyzing other possible options, McCumber has never won a PGA tournament before and currently sits at +1600. Of the players four shots back there is a lot more experience, but perhaps too big of a mountain to climb with Henley being such a solid performer. The best value would have to be Rory Sabbatini at +2200. If anyone has recently shown the ability to shoot a low score on Sunday, look no further than the 61 he shot at the Olympics to capture the Silver medal. Even though he is five shots back, we have to at least mention the fact that Webb Simpson also has the potential here to shoot a 60. With thunderstorms in the forecast, tee times were moved up to 7:00 AM and players will go off in threesomes.
