Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 2 Targets
Let’s not overreact to Week 1. We only had historical data to fuel our projections. Projections that were completely flipped on their heads with gameday inactives. Projections that were further challenged by on-field usage. Simply put, we didn’t know much beforehand. Now, we have a glimpse. So, let’s not overreact to what we saw, but we still need to react.

Week 2 gives a chance to recalibrate. Or, at least a chance to start the recalibration process. I’ll be using Week 1 stats to buoy the analysis, but contextualization is tricky after just one game. Regardless, let’s dive into last week’s results, see what adjustments need to be made, and look ahead to Week 2.
Week 1 Results
Accountability is obviously important, but I do a quick review each week to try and address the “why”. Understanding the “thesis of the play” puts us in a better position to find the optimal targets each week. Overall, Week 1 was a success.
Type | Player | FPTS | Rank |
---|---|---|---|
Top Play | Sam Darnold | 19.1 | 17 |
Deep | Jimmy Garoppolo | 14.8 | 25 |
K.I.T. | Trevor Lawrence | 19.1 | 12 |
Kirk Cousins | 22.0 | 13 | |
Jameis Winston | 29.6 | 4 |
Results point to a victory for the stream team. But, I’ll admit, it’s somewhat fluky. Sam Darnold was accurate (+10.4% CPOE), but inefficient as over half of his throws were five air yards or less. Jimmy Garoppolo lost one passing touchdown to Trey Lance and needed a comeback effort from the Lions to continue passing after a run-heavy first quarter. Neither scenario/result is particularly surprising, but details like these will be useful in recommending them in the future. Week 2 should give us more information.
