2021 Bermuda Championship: Round 2 Matchups
Thursday morning at Port Royal Golf Course was anything but a day in paradise at the Bermuda Championship. With steady winds at 25 MPH and gusting up to 35 MPH, combined with sheets of sideways rain, the weather was the story of the day. The morning wave of golf was so difficult that the average score was 3.4 strokes higher than the afternoon wave. England native Matthew Fitzpatrick even remarked that these were the hardest conditions he has ever played. By the afternoon, winds had died down and the sun broke through, allowing players in the later wave to take advantage of the better conditions. Nobody took more advantage than Brandon Hagy and Chad Ramey. Each teed off in the afternoon and both shot a 6-under par 65. Thirteen players were still on the course when play was suspended due to darkness. Winds are forecasted to be much calmer tomorrow, blowing at only 9-12 MPH throughout the day. Similar to last week, there is no strokes gained data this week, so we will have to rely on some old-school stats like Driving Accuracy and GIR% for in-tournament selections.
