A.J. Fletcher over 2.5 takedowns.
A.J. Fletcher enters his second fight in the UFC after coming off a close decision loss in his debut. Against Matthew Semelsberger, Fletcher was able to complete five of eight takedowns. In this fight, Fletcher will be at a seven-inch reach advantage. Fletcher will not be able to fight at range in this fight and will have to use his explosiveness to slip strikes and move inside. That should lead to big overhands and power doubles that get us past this line.
Tyson Pedro over 3.5 minutes.
Tyson Pedro over 21.5 significant strikes.
The line on this fight predicts a first-round finish, and rightfully so. Harry Hunsucker has never made it out of the first round in a loss or a win. Hunsucker is moving down from heavyweight, where he should have a shock in the speed differential in a smaller weight class. Both of these numbers are extremely low, so it makes sense to attack the over on both. Pedro is not a fast starter and attempts less than five strikes per minute. His historical pace should lead to the over on minutes. On the significant strike side, Pedro has beaten this line in each of his last two fights, including his most recent win, which was a round one finish.
Sean Woodson under 14.75 minutes.
This line is basically a decision or bust. Woodson has superb boxing and fights long behind his jab with good movement. The hole in his game is in the grappling department. Luis Saldana probably won’t be able to get the fight to the mat as Woodson also sports a 82% takedown defense rating. With a fight that projects to take place on the feet, there will be ample opportunities for a finish to occur. The beauty of this line is that its a play on the favorite in Woodson and the unexpected should Saldan get a finish.
