Week 12 Fantasy Football Busts
The holiday week can take us away from our fantasy teams more than normal. We’re spending time with family, prepping for the big meal, or building more DFS lineups for the Thursday slate. Regardless, we’ve still got decisions to make for our squads. The waiver wire is thinning out as we position ourselves for the playoffs. To help avoid a dud, I’ve got five players to avoid for Week 12.
Quarterback
Russell Wilson (Broncos) @ Panthers
It was good to see Wilson have an efficient game against the Raiders (23.1 aFPA, 31st). But I expected more. With a lesser cast, Matt Ryan had a rushing and passing touchdown against the same defense the week before. Trevor Lawrence, Andy Dalton, and Davis Mills all had better days than the Broncos’ passing game.
So, a date with the Panthers (16.1 aFPA, 15th) isn’t ideal. They’re 11th in yards per drive allowed, and only four passers have ended up with top-12 results against them. Three required rushing production to fuel their day. Wilson’s in for a tough time if the Broncos have to rely on their aerial attack.
He’s 22nd in EPA per play on pure-passing downs. Coincidentally, the Panthers are one of three teams in the Top 10 for dropback and rushing EPA allowed on third and fourth downs since Matt Rhule’s departure. Wilson’s inability to connect with his receivers may stall out drives keeping him out of the top 12.
