Week 5 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Wednesday
Bears QB Jay Cutler (hamstring) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Cutler played pretty well last week and has a nice matchup with a shaky Chiefs’ secondary, though Kansas City is a tough place to play.
Browns QB Johnny Manziel (right elbow) practiced fully Wednesday.
Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Bell may miss another week. Ameer Abdullah saw 15 touches in Week 4. Theo Riddick checked in with six, while Zach Zenner saw three. Expect Abdullah to lead the team in touches if Bell remains out.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ribs) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Coleman may return this week, but he’s unlikely to see starter’s snaps with Devonta Freeman playing so well. Expect Coleman to see a few touches as Freeman’s primary backup.
Browns RB Shaun Draughn (back) did not practice Wednesday.
Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Ellington is expected to play in Week 5, though it appears that he’ll take a backseat to Chris Johnson for the time being.
Bengals RB Jeremy Hill (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. It’s a tough matchup for Hill against a good Seattle rush defense. He has been TD dependent thus far and that makes him a risky play.
Browns RB Duke Johnson (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. Johnson should be fine to face the Ravens. He has 15 catches in the last two weeks and is suddenly a viable PPR play.
Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Karlos Williams (concussion) did not practice Wednesday. McCoy isn’t expected to play in Week 5. Williams would get the nod, but he’s dealing with a concussion. Anthony Dixon is the next man up. The newly-signed Dan Herron would be his primary backup.
