Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 17 Targets

As fast as it came, the fantasy season has come and gone. The vast majority of leagues have already finished their championship game, so only you lucky few are still grinding in Week 17. In this final week, for the NFL and for your fantasy hopes, I wish you good luck.

2015 has been an incredible season for streaming QBs and for late-round drafters. Through 16 weeks, Blake Bortles, Carson Palmer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Kirk Cousins are all inside the top-ten, and none of them were high fantasy draft picks. Many teams have dominated their leagues without spending high picks on quarterback, and I hope you are among that list.

For the year, our streaming QBs have averaged 16.6 fantasy points per week. I am most proud that we have only had four single-digit performances after picking three streamers every week for sixteen weeks. If you have stuck to our script, you have stayed away from disastrous weeks and hopefully have found upside at the other positions, where you spent high draft picks.

For the last time this season, let’s take a look at this week’s streamers. On to Week 17! As always, our primary focus will be on each quarterback’s fantasy points per attempt, because of how well that correlates with fantasy production, and on aFPA for the defenses they face.

Week 17 QB Streaming Targets

Ryan Fitzpatrick (NYJ) at Buffalo Bills

Ryan Fitzpatrick has had an incredible year, and, incredibly, he is still only owned in 51% of leagues. If we leave out his injured week, Fitzpatrick has never scored fewer than 13 points, and he has surpassed 23 in four of his last five games. This week, the Jets are still in the playoff hunt, and Fitzpatrick leads the team against a defense ranking in the middle of the pack. The Bills are 14th in aFPA to opposing QBs. With such a consistent record this season, I am choosing to rest our final streaming week on Ryan Fitzpatrick. Although other streaming options have better matchups on paper, I do not see a more reliable option this week than Fitzmagic.

Fitzpatrick is available in 49% of Yahoo public leagues, and he is my optimal streamer of the week.
